Although some fans were overjoyed to see the essence of the 1990s franchise revived in the 2015 reboot, Jurassic World's most recent revival, Jurassic World: Dominion, received less than favourable reviews, with Rotten Tomatoes reporting that only 29% of critic reviews were positive in sentiment.
While Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum reprised their original roles in the most recent sequel film, Deadline reports that the trio are highly unlikely to return for the next instalment of the story.
Surprisingly, the franchise's newest generation of stars, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, are also not anticipated to return to Jurassic World, with the latest film set to be a "fresh take" on the previously underwhelming storyline.
Following the release of Jurassic World: Dominion, fans were quick to criticise the film's unique sub-plot that centred around the spread of genetically hybrid locusts, with many feeling that the storyline strayed too far away from the central spirit of the Jurassic Park universe.
"It is inherently un-franchisable. There probably should have only been one Jurassic Park," director Colin Trevorrow told Digital Spy shortly after the film's release.
Defending his choice to deviate from the original storyline formula, Colin shared, "If we're going to do [another Jurassic Park], how can I allow them to tell stories in a world in which dinosaurs exist as opposed to, 'Here's another reason why we're going to an island?'"
