Charlie Newling first rose to fame as a contestant on the 2018 season of The Bachelorette. Following his memorable red carpet entrance, Charlie quickly became a front-runner in the race for Bachelorette Ali Oetjen's heart, with the builder securing the first solo date of the 2018 season.
"How incredible is this guy? I'm terrified and he's doing everything he can to reassure me... He showed what type of man he is - someone that is always going to have my back," Ali shared after their first date.
While Charlie may have been a long-term frontrunner, he was eliminated from the dating show ahead of the hometown visits, with Ali sharing that she was not ready to introduce him to her nearest and dearest.
Following his appearance on The Bachelorette, Newling remained largely out of the public eye.
In September 2022, Newling re-entered headlines after he was handed a 13-month prison sentence for threatening to kill his stepfather over a series of text messages.
New South Wales Magistrate Ross Hudson delivered the sentence; ruling that Newling would serve the duration of his sentence in the community.
