“We’re looking forward to a strong slate of global content in the second half of the year, including new seasons of some of our biggest series, Stranger Things (July 4th), 13 Reasons Why, Orange is the New Black, The Crown and La Casa de Papel (aka Money Heist),” Netflix wrote in the company’s first-quarter shareholder letter.
In June 2018, the series was officially renewed for its third season and was said to be premiering in 2019 without a specific release date.
Production began in August 2018, however, there was a slight delay due to an issue with the cast’s salary negotiations.
Katherine Langford is not expected to return as Hannah Baker in season 3.
The actress shared an Instagram post in May last year saying goodbye to her character, who was the center of the drama in the first two seasons.
“‘Hannah…I love you…and I let you go’ Those are the words I was able to say six months ago, and now can finally share with you as my journey on @13reasonswhy has officially come to an END!” Katherine wrote.
Dylan Minnette will be returning as Clay Jensen, who we last saw holding an assault rifle that he had taken off Tyler Down (Devin Druid) to prevent him from shooting up Liberty High during a school dance.
Tyler fled the scene with the help of Tony Padilla (Christian Navarro), following Clay’s advice, which left audiences wondering about the fate of all three characters.
Alisha Boe will also return as Jessica Davis, who reunited with Justin Foley (Brandon Flynn) before they found Clay holding the gun.
Miles Heizer will also return as Alex Standall, along with Ross Butler as Zach Dempsey.
Antagonists Bryce Walker (Justin Prentice) and Montgomery de La Cruz (Timothy Granaderos) also expected to appear in the third season.
According to What’s On Netflix, production concluded in February this year, with 13 episodes confirmed for the new season.
In June, Zach Prusak tweeted that the third season would premiere in October, however, Netflix is yet to confirm his announcement.
