5. Rebel Wilson
The sole comedienne on this list, Rebel Wilson has been making waves internationally thanks to her cheeky antics and brilliant comedic timing.
Rebel was born on March 2, 1980, in Sydney, New South Wales. And fun fact: She and all her siblings have unique names. Her sisters are named Liberty and Annachi, and her brother is named Ryot.
Rebel’s first brush with celebrity came when she wrote, produced, and starred in The Westie Monologues, and from there she did several TV roles before she landed a minor part in Bridesmaids which launched her career into the stratosphere.
Her latest film, Isn’t It Romantic, sees her in the lead role opposite comedian Adam Devine, fellow Aussie Liam Hemsworth, and Indian actress Priyanka Chopra.
4. Toni Collette
Toni Collette is one of the most severely underrated Australian female actresses of her generation.
Toni was born in Blacktown, Sydney on November 1, 1972. She developed a love for acting at an early age. One funny anecdote Toni likes to share is how, at the age of 11, she was able to fake appendicitis so successfully that doctors put her through an appendectomy.
In the early years of her career, she took on TV roles and acted in Broadway plays. She was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Leading Actress for her roles as Queenie in The Wild Party. She was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Sixth Sense.

Though Margot only 29, she’s proven to have the acting chops to match some of the most famous Australian female actors in the business.
Margot was born on July 2, 1990, in Dalby, Queensland on a farm in the Gold Coast hinterland. Robbie starred in several Australian films and TV series in the early years of her career.
Her big break came when she landed the role of Jordan Belfort’s wife in Martin Scorsese’s critically acclaimed The Wolf of Wall Street. In this film, she joined A-list celebrities like Leo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill and garnered a lot of attention not only for her comedic skill but her near-perfect imitation of a Brooklyn accent.
She gained worldwide attention when she was cast as Harley Quinn in DC’s Suicide Squad, but it was her role as figure skater Tonya Harding in I, Tonya that won her a nomination for an Oscar and a Golden Globe.

2. Cate Blanchett
Born on May 14, 1969, in the suburb of Ivanhoe in Melbourne, as a child Cate describes herself as “part extrovert, part wallflower”, but as she grew older, she became a poster child for teenage rebellion; often rocking the punky goth look.
Her first feature film debut was as an Australian nurse on the 1997 film Paradise Road, but the film that really garnered her attention and praise from critics was for her role as Queen Elizabeth in the 1998 biopic Elizabeth, for which she won a Golden Globe Award, a BAFTA, a SAG Award, and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
Cate is an incredibly versatile film actress, having appeared in a variety of film genres from dramas, to action films, to fantasy films, to comedies – she’s done it all! But aside from acting, she’s also known for her philanthropy and vocal support for climate change and women’s issues.

Nicole Kidman is arguably one of the most successful actors alive today.
Born on June 20, 1967, in Honolulu, Hawaii to Australian parents. Their family moved to Sydney when Nicole was four years old, where she grew up with her sister Antonia.
Nicole began acting in Australia in the early ‘80s, appearing in several local theatre, film, and television roles. She made her American debut in the 1990 film Days of Thunder, where she first met and starred alongside her soon-to-be husband Tom Cruise.
Nicole shot to superstardom when she received critical praise for her role as Dr Chase Meridian in Batman Forever, and in the controversial film Eyes Wide Shut, where she again acted alongside her then-husband, Tom Cruise.
Following a highly publicised divorce, Nicole took a brief hiatus. When she came back onto the scene, she dove into her work and delivered another critically acclaimed performance as Satine in Baz Luhrmann’s in Moulin Rouge!, where she proved herself a highly capable singer.
