Aussie actor and newly discovered national hero, Adam Demos, has reminded us all that his new film has dropped as of today, and we’re collectively racing to the couch to tune in.
WATCH NOW: A Perfect Pairing | Official Trailer | Netflix
While we’ve been anxiously hanging out for more news of Sex/Life’s highly anticipated second season, we’ve been given a brief reprieve with the release of A Perfect Pairing.
The romantic comedy stars Adam and American actress Victoria Justice, who is best known from her days heading up the Nickolodeon sitcom Victorious.
Filmed here in Australia, the flick follows Victoria’s character, Lola, a hard-working LA-based executive who heads Down Under to land a major exportation deal with a local winery.
While there, she takes up working on the farm to show the client how serious she is about her work, and falls in love with local sheep farmer and all-around rugged countryman, Adam Demos’ Max.
The trailer (which you can check out up top) shows it’s packed with every element we need for a modern romantic comedy: cheesy lines, an unlikely match, and (fingers crossed) a happy ending that will leave us feeling as bubbly as the wine they’re drinking onscreen.
Adam has been promoting the film on Instagram and celebrated the release today by posting the film’s poster to his grid.
“Out now!!” he reminded us.
“Woohooo!! ♥️🍷 🐑 🇦🇺,” wrote Victoria, throwing in a sheep and Australian flag emoji.
“Premiere day baby!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️,” wrote Adam’s gorgeous girlfriend and co-star, Sarah Shahi.
Sarah also shared the image to her stories, reminding her followers to go and check it out.
A Perfect Pairing is Adam’s first big commercial film since he shot to international stardom in his role on Sex/Life, which is where he met Sarah, who plays his love interest in the show.
He stars as the aloof and sexy Australian music producer Brad Simon, who dated Sarah Shahi’s Billie Connelly some decade prior, before she settled down to a life as a suburban mother.
The show saw amazing success, with the first season being watched in 67 million households worldwide.
It was also celebrated for showing sex from the female perspective and placing focus on female pleasure.
“Our showrunner Stacy was like ‘So many times in sex scenes it’s portrayed as the way men like to have sex or the camera lingers on the female body’ but she goes on to let the camera linger on the male body too because there are two sides to it,” Adam told WHO at the time of the show’s release.
“I just feel grateful that I got to be part of a story that’s from the female perspective because it doesn’t seem to be that common of a thing.”
While a release date for Sex/Life’s second season remains elusive, we’re very excited to fill the time with Adam’s new film.
You can catch A Perfect Pairing and season one of Sex/Life on Netflix now.
