Next you need to work out how much coverage you want and how youre going to apply it. Use a brush with a tapered head to get in and around the nose and under eyes, its like a paddle that you can really work, particularly around the jawline, notes Ashton. Load the product on the brush and really buff it into the skin using circular motions, As you need more product, load it on to the brush, stipple it on cheeks and polish out to the edges of your face, says Ashton.

Ashton’s top tip is to blend Marc Jacobs Shameless Foundationon the jawline its something people often forget, adding that on the red carpet he also applies a little bit to the ears, because everybodys ears are a little red; so just a little bit gets rid of any redness, which is noticeable particularly if youre rocking an up-do.

Dont over-do it! Finish with a minimal amount of spot concealer. If you get your foundation right first, you will only need concealer under the eyes, around the edges of the nose; down the high plane of the nose, below the bottom lip and on any spots, says Ashton.
