High school student and aspiring musician Marty is the film’s hero, and is arguably one of actor Michael J. Fox’s biggest hits.

“It was a pretty astounding experience…it changed my life,” he said of the franchise in November 2020.

The 60-year-old went on to reprise the role in the second and third sequels and has since starred in TV and film projects including Spin City which he also executive produced and family films Stuart Little and Stuart Little 2 where he played the title character.

The time-travelling and eccentric “Doc” was played by Hollywood screen legend Christopher Lloyd, who still has a special bond with co-star Michael J. Fox.

“He’s courageous, has a great sense of humour and a wonderful perspective on life,” the 82-year-old actor told the Guardian in March 2021.

“I have such admiration for him. From the first time we met, and we shot together, the relationship has always been there. And I know that if we were set to do something else again together, it would still be there. We just have a natural chemistry.”

Though Back To The Future may be his most famous project, he’s done plenty since and has starred in cult classic Who Framed Roger Rabbit as well as Uncle Fester in two Addams Family films.

Speaking of the Back To The Future legacy in 2020, Lea told The Playlist“As an artist you always want to try and change the world to make people forget about their worries and try to inform and entertain, and of course, I’ve done a million other things like the films I’ve directed and I have just done so much gratifying work, but this is the movie that is the classic and I feel so proud to be a part of that.”

Meek and nerdy George grew up to be Marty’s meek and nerdy father in the film, but behind the scenes there was drama with actor Crispin who refused to be in the sequel, for moral and pay reasons.

As a result, director Robert Zemeckis used footage of him from the first film and prosthetics simulating his face on another actor but Crispin sued on the grounds that they used his likeness without permission and the case was settled out of court.

The actor and director has also starred in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape as well as in Charlie’s Angels and has written 20 books.

High school bully turned George’s boss Biff was the ultimate villain but actor Thomas used to have a way of dealing with hardcore fans – through song in his stand-up routine.
