In the candid chat, Bridie opened up about her past struggle with alcohol abuse, and how she’s managed to stay sober for over 20 years.

“I’ve now not drank or drugged for 21.5 years,” she said when Timbs asked about her battle with substance abuse.

“It’s my private life and I never would’ve disclosed it because I’m not going to talk about it.

“There are things called Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous but there’s this word ‘anonymous’ so if you talk about them, you’re actually breaking the traditions of those programs. Even if I was in one of those programs, I wouldn’t be able to talk about it with you. But I have sought the right help, I have an incredible life and nothing that happened in my life made me drink or drug.”

The mother-of-two added there was nothing “grandiose” about her journey to sobriety.

“Alcoholism is a disease. It would’ve been an interesting story to them if I had been found in a gutter with vomit out my mouth or a needle or something like that but it wasn’t, there’s nothing kind of grandiose about that,” she shares.

During the chat, Bridie also spoke about a potential revival for McLeod’s Daughtersconfirming that the show’s creator Posie Graeme-Evans was in talks for a remake with streaming service Stan.

“Posie was keen and she got together and there was a synopsis written and they had discussions with Stan,” she revealed.

“Posie chose to walk away because she felt like Stan wasn’t going to make the show that she did. She only wanted to make it if it was of the highest standard. I’ve been talking to Posie the whole time and of course I would love to go back and do it and so would certain other cast members”.
