In a video posted to Instagram on Monday ahead of the show finale, Dannii spoke to the music director of The Masked Singer, ‘Dorian’ and asked him whether or not “they are really singing live.”
“You can say it on camera,” Dannii added.
“[They are] 100 per cent live,” Dorian said, finally putting an end to the rumours.
“They have little microphones inside the mask, taped to their head,” he continued.
“And there’s the combination of this microphone and that microphone (pointing to a hand-held and taped variety) for different sounds.”
Judge Jackie O also spoke out about lip-synching accusations last month, telling The Advertiser: “I’ve seen a set malfunction happen and something fell on one of the singers and the singing stopped straight away.”
“They are singing live – 100 per cent fact.”
Furthermore, Gretel Killeen, who was unasked as the Octopus early on in the series, told The Project what it was like to sing from within a costume.
“The microphone is inside the mask and it’s live. It’s an amazing audio feed, it’s like singing in a cave. We are singing live, because people said “they’re lip-syncing”, but seriously, no.”
Last night, Cody Simpson was crowned the winner of the competition after he was revealed as the celebrity underneath the Robot costume.
