Giddy up fashion lovers, the saddle bag is back! 20 years after becoming an instant style hit, celebs like Beyonce are leaving the house armed with Dior’s iconic everyday bag.
If you were lucky enough to snag a retro version you’ll notice it doesn’t quite fit your iPhone. But designer Maria Chiuri has made it just a teensy bit bigger to accommodate today’s needs. “I consider this icon of the house’s recent history the perfect accessory to deal with this battle that is daily life,” says Chiuri.
Carrie Bradshaw would agree. And probably match it with a pair of streetwear slacks and heels, possibly designed by another 90s pop-culture idol.
Hello Victoria Beckham whose 90s inspired tees, sneakers and athleisure collection launches this week on July 26. Merch Collection – a well-timed Reebok collaboration is Victoria’s newest project.
“For me this capsule really represents a celebration of that era,” says Beckham. The new range nods to basketball and the days when Mrs Beckham was better known as Posh. “The unisex approach, and the nods to streetwear … are important elements that I will take through to the full collection.”
So with your clothes and bag all set, all that’s left is your hair. Well, Alicia Keys just beat you to it. The ‘Empire State of Mind’ singer posted a pic of her 90s-inspired bob on Instagram last week and the fashion world is going off. It’s official, the 90s are still well and truly on-trend.
