Appearing side-by-side on the stage at the live event, host Sonia Kruger was quick to dredge up the trio’s “dirty laundry” from the house.

For those who forgot, Drew and Tully hooked up during their first stint on Big Brother in 2013 even though Tully had a girlfriend at the time.

This time round he got together with Sam, who seemed smitten with him until filming wrapped, at which point they split.

“Looks like I’ve been signing up for the wrong show,” he told Sonia on the finale, adding that it wasn’t easy having Tully in the house while he was pursuing Sam.

“Even if you took Sam out of the equation, have you ever tried living with your ex? I don’t recommend it.”

When asked if he and Sam were still together, Drew quickly confessed they weren’t but turned coy when asked what had gone wrong.

Sam was happy to elaborate though.

“What happened? Ah, well yeah we came out of the house and got to know each other in the real world and Drew lives in Melbourne, I live in Queensland,” she said.

“We are also very different, so just didn’t work out.”

Adding that it was “awkward” having Drew’s ex in the house too, Sam said she still enjoyed getting to know Tully during filming.

“I kind of respected their relationship and they had like a friendship as well,” she revealed.

“I wanted to make sure that Tully felt comfortable in the house and didn’t want to see me as, like, you know, just like this wedge. I don’t want to be Tim!”

But Tully wasn’t surprised at all that Drew quickly found a new “showmance” this season, telling Sonia she thought Drew would couple up quicker than the nine days it took him to get involved with Sam.

“As Drew said, no-one wants to live with your ex, no-one wants to see your ex at a party let alone realise you are living in a share house with them,” she said.

“And my bed was next to Sam and opposite Drew, I couldn’t get away from them if I tried. I think we all made the best of a bad situation.”

When asked if she still held a candle for Drew, Tully’s answer was an emphatic no – in fact her handsome new boyfriend was in the crowd.

Though the love triangle didn’t end in success for any of the pairings involved, at least they’re all happily in new relationships now.
