The 33-year-old’s lawyer, David Esquibias, recently outed the star, telling Us Weekly that the entire ordeal was nothing but a hoax. And, honestly, we kind of expected it.

After reuniting with her fiance following their brief split, the Nickelodeon child star revealed she was pregnant on March 17. Taking to Instagram to share the news with their followers, both Amanda and Paul— who met in rehab— shared a photo of the actress’s ultrasound.

“Baby in the making,” he captioned his post while Amanda simply wrote: “Baby on board.”

Hours later, they deleted the pregnancy announcement after fans expressed their confusion over the image. Her lawyer David then revealed she was “sourcing treatment for ongoing mental health issues”, with word spreading her parents were already planning to seek judge ruling to place the baby in proper care.

According to The Blast, they were also preparing to file in “dependency court” which would’ve allowed a judge to review their daughter’s mental condition and fitness as a parent.

To make matters even more suspicious, a week before the shock announcement, Amanda confirmed she’d called off her engagement to Paul. She’d originally informed her fans that he popped the question in February, however on March 8, Paul confirmed they’d split.

A source told The Blast at the time that her family were aware of the engagement but no one had signed off on the marriage. Her parents were also worried about the state of their relationship amid concerns for her mental health. As we know, Amanda’s battle with substance abuse has been well documented throughout the years.

The Easy A actress was charged with driving under the influence in 2012, and in 2013 she was caught smoking marijuana in the lobby of her New York apartment, she then threw her bong out the 36th-floor window when police were called.

That same year she started a fire in a stranger’s driveway and was placed under psychiatric hold for 72 hours.

A year later she made— and then took back— sexual abuse allegations against her father, Rick.

She explained her decision to make the accusation: “The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he’s the one that ordered them to microchip me.”
