Following Anne Hathaway’s 2012 Californian wedding to actor and producer Adam Shulman, the actress has confessed that marriage has changed her for the better.
“He changed my ability to be in the world comfortably,” the 34-year-old recently told Elle.
While the Oscar winner is aware it’s a little taboo to ‘need’ a man in today’s society, she isn’t afraid to hide the fact that Shulman completes her.
“I think the accepted narrative now is that we, as women, don’t need anybody. But I need my husband,” admits Hathaway. “His unique and specific love has changed me.”
Hathaway continued: ‘We both talked about it [marriage] beforehand and how it wasn’t going to change anything, but something shifts, and I don’t know what it is.
“I didn’t realise that I was keeping a part of myself protected, and it’s kind of all on the line now. I’m his and he’s mine.”
