It’s been 19 years since the finale. How is working with the 90210 gang again?
It’s surreal. The first time we all got back together, we were in a story meeting and I stopped, like, “Wait a second: we’re all like sitting in the same room right now? This is crazy.”

How has Luke Perry’s death weighed on the cast as the new show came together?
It’s a hard situation. I knew going into it that Luke couldn’t do the reboot because he was shooting Riverdale. But my honest hope was he would make time to come do at least three episodes. He was awesome, and we talked to him on the phone because we still wanted his input. He was just that kind of guy. Knowing that that’s not a possibility is really hard.

What is your 90210 character, David Silver, up to now?
He’s the CEO of a hip-hop radio station. He is dressing more like Eminem now – he’s got a hoodie and a sweat suit. And David and Donna [played by Tori Spelling] are still married.

What can fans expect from the new show?
It’s about the making of a reboot. We play heightened versions of ourselves, like Larry David does in Curb Your Enthusiasm. We meet up as ourselves at a fan convention.

Did your wife, Megan Fox, who’s 33, watch 90210?
She didn’t. When we met, Megan was like, “He looks like Justin Timberlake.” That’s all she cared about. She grew up with *NSYNC.
