A tale of forbidden passion and star-crossed lovers— Dannii and Denton are dreaming of a fairy-tale wedding but just one thing stands in their way: Dannii’s mother Donna believes he’s not the right fit for her.

“I love Dannii to pieces, but I just worry about her,” explains Donna. “She’s had a lot going on in her life in the last 12 months with losing her dad. I really don’t think that she’s ready for this commitment.

“Denton’s a spoilt little rich kid. He needs to pull his head in and grow up. I think Dannii needs to be with a real man because Denton needs to get some balls. Denton is overweight; he’s a cocky little asshole with a cocky hairstyle.”

But the happy couple, who fill their weekends with dinners, movies and road trips, are focused on a lasting relationship despite opposition from Dannii’s family.

“To me, getting married is opening the door to the future, and that’s what I want Dannii to be a part of,
my future,” says Denton of the couple’s plans to marry. “This is the relationship that I want.
I really couldn’t see myself with anyone else.”

Dannii admits she’s always clashed with her mother, however, now that her father’s gone, she wants to rebuild the relationship with her mother and have her by her side on her wedding day.

“Since dad’s passed away, she’s the only parent that I have left, so it’s really important for me that she gets along with Denton,” Dannii says. “The possibility of mum not attending my wedding would be absolutely heartbreaking.”

The couple met while working at the local RSL club where Dannii says Denton was a “massive flirt” who used to wink at her from across the bar.

“I’m not going to deny that I was a massive flirt, but I am going to deny the winking, it didn’t happen,” argues Denton playfully.

After Dannii’s beloved father passed away recently, RSL general manager Denton took Dannii on holiday to the Philippines where he proposed.

“We were on Palawan Island. It was beautiful. One night, we were having drinks and dinner and there was a band playing, so I got up and started dancing,” recalls Dannii. “Denton came over to join me. He was dancing and then got down on one knee and proposed in front of everyone. It was magical.”
