Fans were more than surprised when 19-year-old Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown announced she was engaged to her boyfriend of three years, Jake Bongiovi.
But she’s hardly the first celeb to get engaged – or married – young. In fact, it seems as if celebs are on a whole different relationship timeline to the rest of us, with numerous A-list stars getting hitched in their teens and early twenties.

For some, marriage came after mere months of dating, for others an early marriage lasted only days – and for a slim few, it was the beginning of a decades-long marriage.
Below, we look back at celebrities that married young (under the age of 21 in fact).
Macaulay Culkin and Rachel Miner
Age: Both 18
The child stars, who originally met at school got married when they were 18, just months after they began dating.
“We’re so happy and proud that we found each other at such a young age. We look forward to spending our lives together,” they explained in a statement in 1998.
After two years of marriage, the pair announced they were separating, with a spokesman of Macaulay confirming the news to Entertainment Tonight, saying, “It is very amicable and they remain best of friends.”
Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson
Age: Kate was 21, Chris was 34
Kate Hudson married Black Crowes frontman, Chris Robinson when she was 21. The pair were married for seven years and share a son, Ryder together.
“It wasn’t even impulsive,” Kate explained in an interview with Today. “People thought it was impulsive but I was just like ‘You know what, I’m going to dive right into this. I’m not going to second-guess it. I’m in love with him. I’m not going to pretend like, oh, we should wait…I’m madly in love, and I want to marry him.'”

Age: Drew was 19 and Jeremy was 31
Drew Barrymore and Jeremy Thomas married after dating for just six weeks in 1994. However, they split just 19 days after tying the knot and their divorce was finalized in 1995.

Age: Melanie was 18 and Don was 26
The pair tied the knot in 1976 before divorcing six months later. However, they reunited and remarried in 1989, welcoming their daughter, Dakota Johnson later that year. The couple were in an on-again-off-again relationship before finally splitting in 1995.

In April 2023, Millie announced her engagement to Jake, the son of Jon Bon Jovi, posting a sweet picture of the loved-up couple on Instagram.
