Angelina Jolie is reportedly seeking help for her badly injured son Pax, with friends of the 20-year-old concerned about his “reckless” behaviour.
Pax was injured after crashing his electric bike into a stationary car at an LA intersection on July 29 – and sources claim it’s not the first time he’s been involved in a road accident.
First responders found Pax, 20, lying unconscious and initially feared he was dead, TMZ reported. He was raced to ICU with paramedics worried he might be suffering from bleeding on the brain, as he was not wearing a helmet at the time.
While has been released from ICU, he faces a “long road of recovery” ahead, one source told PEOPLE.
“He suffered complex trauma, and now begins the long road of recovery and physical therapy,” the source said.
Jolie, 49, who has been by his side ever since the accident, was “deeply grateful for the quick and life-saving action of first responders, and the outstanding medical care he received,” the source added.
The fourth of Jolie and Pitt’s six children, Pax is often seen riding helmetless around LA on his e-bike, a Talaria Sting RMX4 that retails for around $3000.
Sources close to the family said his loved ones were becoming increasingly worried by his reckless behaviour.
“His friends are concerned about him,” one source told The Daily Mail. “He has had a string of car crashes. It’s not great…and Angelina is doing her best to help him.”
The Jolie-Pitt clan
Pax was adopted by Jolie in Vietnam in 2007 when he was three years old. Brad Pitt officially became his adoptive father the following year.
He has five other siblings: Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19; Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.
Maddox was adopted from Cambodia in 2002, and Zahara was adopted from Ethiopia in 2005.
Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne are the divorced couple’s three biological children.
Like several others in the Jolie-Pitt clan, Pax is estranged from his father.
The ongoing custody and asset battle between Jolie and Pitt has dragged on for years – and seems to have taken its toll on their children.
A source told The Daily Mail that Pitt wanted to visit Pax in hospital after his crash but was unable to contact him.
“Brad is distraught and worried over Pax’s accident, but he is unable to reach him,” they said.
“It is very upsetting to Brad whenever he hears of one of his kids being hurt, and he feels completely powerless because there’s nothing he can do at all.
“A father’s inclination would be to go to the hospital or to call him. He’s tried so many times but the kids won’t take his calls.”
What has Pax said about his father Brad Pitt?
Pax made headlines in November 2023 when a message he sent to his father calling him an “awful human being” was made public.
“You time and time again prove yourself to be a terrible and despicable person,” Pax, then 16, wrote in a brutal Father’s Day message.
“You have no consideration or empathy toward your four youngest children who tremble in fear when in your presence.
“You have made the lives of those closest to me a constant hell. You may tell yourself and the world whatever you want, but the truth will come to light someday.”
What has Brad Pitt said about his children?
Despite having very little contact with his children these days, Pitt is reportedly keen to repair the damaged relationship he has with them.
Both Vivienne and Shiloh now go by the surname Jolie, dropping the hyphenated Jolie-Pitt. And at her sorority introduction at the college she attends, Zahara referred to herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie”, also shedding Pitt from her last name.
“After years of legal battles, Brad still isn’t ready to give up on his children,” one source recently told Us Weekly.
“But knowing his children are dropping his last name is upsetting.”
“He’s sorry for everything that went down and he knows he wasn’t a model husband or dad during the time (he and Jolie) were together,” another source told In Touch.
“Never in a million years did Brad imagine this years-long fight … He’s willing to throw his hands up and surrender.”
