After months of speculation, it appears Elvis star and Hollywood heartthrob Austin Butler and Kaia Gerber, the model and actress daughter of Cindy Crawford have split after more than three years together.
TMZ were the first to report on the couple’s breakup, revealing the pair ended their relationship in late 2024.
A source told the publication that the couple had quietly ended things after their relationship had run its course and that there was “no bad blood” between the two.

Whilst news of their split only broke in January 2025, rumours had been circulating for months that the private couple had called it quits and fans were quick to notice Butler’s absence as Gerber and her family vacationed in Mexico to ring in the new year the month prior.
Throughout their relationship, the couple had been plagued with numerous breakup theories, with rumours reaching a high in early 2023 after a lack of joint public appearances hinted that the couple had parted ways.
However, the couple put the rumours to rest when they were spotted together that May in New York City ahead of the 2024 Met Gala.
Speaking to WSJ Magazine in February 2024, Gerber previously addressed the couple’s low profile, telling the publication, “Honestly, I feel like so few things in my life are private, and [my relationship] is one of the things that I try to keep as sacred as possible.”
The Bottoms star also elaborated on her decision to keep her private life away from social media, adding, “I’m very sensitive, so I don’t keep social media on my phone… I personally haven’t found a time in the last three years where I’ve gone on something like Instagram and left feeling better than I did before.”

We don’t know exactly *how* the private couple met, but rumours first started circulating in December 2021 that the pair were dating after they were spotted attending a yoga class together.
“They are low-key dating,” a source told Us Weekly at the time, “It’s still very new.”
The relationship began almost a year after the Elvis actor broke up from his long-time partner Vanessa Hudgens and Gerber split from Aussie actor Jacob Elordi.
They were spotted together numerous times before making their red carpet debut at the Met Gala in May 2022.

The now 22-year-old model has previously opened up about her choice to date older men after being linked to a then-26-year-old Pete Davidson when she was 19.

In May 2023 the celebrity gossip Instagram account Deux Moi revealed the news that Austin Butler and Kaia Gerber were engaged. Sharing an “exclusive,” the blind item read: “News about your favourite Elvis [Austin played Elvis Presley in the 2022 film, Elvis], can confirm he’s engaged with the model…he proposed back in April but they want to keep it low key.”
“Austin Butler & Kaia Gerber just bought a house together…do we think this is the next step???” the account captioned the post.
Although the news quickly circulated online, a source close to the pair told Page Six the blind item was untrue and that there was no proposal. The couple themselves, never addressed the rumours.

The same month rumours first emerged that the pair were engaged, multiple publications began reporting that the couple had moved in together.
“They’re very much in love,” a source told In Touch at the time. “He’s always at her place, and she’s always at his place, so they figured why not just live together.”
“It sounds cheesy, but their relationship is the real deal,” the source added. “After two weeks of dating, Kaia told him that she loves him, and now she’s asked him to move into her Los Angeles home!”
