On-screen on Home and Away, James Stewart, 49, and Ada Nicodemou, 47, have seen their characters, Justin and Leah, navigate a rocky road. Now, the co-stars are on their own real-life romantic path together, celebrating their first anniversary as a couple.
Marking the milestone on their social media, Ada shared a selection of snaps from their anniversary dinner, captioning the moment, “Just perfect ❤️.”
Following the post, the couple’s Home and Away co-stars soon took to the comments to share their congratulations, with Christie Hayes writing, “Happy Anniversary lovers! Here’s to many more.”
“Cutie patooties 🥰🥰🥰,” added Lynne McGranger.
The couple’s anniversary comes one year after James and Ada’s real life romance first made headlines.
On Anzac Day 2024, the enamoured pair were spotted heading out on a dinner date for the first time with a source close to both at the time confirming they had “been on a few dates”, describing them as “singles mingling”.
In recent months, Ada and James officially unveiled their relationship to the public. While they prefer to keep many aspects of their personal lives private, they made a notable appearance together on the red carpet at the 2024 Logies and participated in a few select interviews, where they expressed their happiness and excitement about their unexpected romance.
In July 2024, Ada opened up about her relationship with James after months of speculation.
‘’Look, you know, whether (the romance) is out there or not, it doesn’t really change our relationship,’’ she told Sunrise.
‘’We’re happy. We’re together,’’ she added. “James is such an amazing actor. I love working with him. That’s not changed as well.
‘’Yeah, so whether it’s out there or not doesn’t really change anything for us.’’
The couple then went red carpet official with their romance at the 64th TV WEEK Logie Awards on August 18.
The duo looked relaxed and smiled as they chatted away ahead of the awards ceremony, holding hands and laughing as they posed on the red carpet wearing matching outfits.
Speaking to TV WEEK on the red carpet, the pair revealed they were loving their shared look, with their chemistry plain to see.
“I know, I love that we’re matching,” James said.
“We look really good, I think,” Ada added, revealing it “feels great” to be walking the red carpet together.
“We’re really happy. Obviously we work together, so we were always going to be here together. But I’m just so excited to share the night with you [James],” the star told her man.
“I cannot wait to dance together at the after party,” she went on. “We’re gonna dance the night away. And I mean, James can dance. How good was he on Dancing with the Stars. He knows how to move!”
Before getting together, James and Ada had both split from their former partners.
Ada split from ex Adam Rigby, towards the end of 2023, although neither made any public comment about the status of their relationship.
They had been together since 2018. Ada has a son Johnas, 11, who she shares with ex-partner Chrys Xipolitas.
James’ four-year marriage to Sarah Roberts, who he also met on the set of Home and Away in 2017, also ended before his romance with Ada began.
James has a daughter Scout, 12, who he shares with his former partner and former Packed to the Rafters co-star Jessica Marais. They became engaged in October 2010 but split in 2015.
In an interview with WHO, Sarah spoke more about her new life post-divorce.
She admitted that when she first announced her divorce in April, she was scared of the “stigma and shame” around the split. But things then changed.
“[My divorce] doesn’t define me,” she explained to WHO. “It’s a small chapter of my life and I’m moving on and forwards now. I’ve learnt and grown from everything that’s happened. I feel free.
“Sometimes setbacks or challenges can drive you forward. They can either hold you back or you can make a decision not to let fear stand in your way and really use it to achieve goals and be a beacon of light or strength for people that are following in your footsteps,” she added.
Meanwhile, James and Ada have gone on to showcase their new love on social media – with the pair posting a series of loved-up snaps.
In October 2024, Ada took to Instagram to share a sweet birthday tribute to her beau.
“Happy birthday you absolute legend! You are just pure joy,” she wrote alongside a carousel of images. “We haven’t stopped laughing… have the best day my love ❤️
In December, the happy couple spoke with our sister site TV WEEK about spending their first Christmas together as a couple.
“It’s our first Christmas together as a couple, I’m so excited,” she told the publication.
“[But] James is going to be in Queensland, as his family are all up there, and I’ll be in Sydney with mine. But that’s OK – we see each other all the time,” she says with a laugh.
“Ada and I are so family-oriented,” James, added. “She has this amazing Cypriot family, and they’re so well connected. And my family are up in Queensland and, you know, I miss Mum.”
