As Lady Gaga prepares for the release of her new movie Joker: Folie à Deux in October, the star’s performance has not been the only thing to have made headlines, with the star debuting her romance with husband-to-be Michael Polansky.
Celebrating the Venice Film Festival premiere of the upcoming Batman spin-off, the 38-year-old stepped out on the red carpet with Polansky for the first time – sharing a kiss as they entered their charter boat from Hotel Cipriani.
After keeping the details of their romance largely out of the public eye, Lady Gaga later opened up about her engagement for the first time on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
“He proposed to me right after my birthday, so my birthday passed and I thought, ‘Oh, thought he was going to propose,'” she shared, leading fans to believe that the couple have been engaged since at least April 2024.
Recounting their proposal, she continued, “We went on a trip together and we went rock climbing… He actually – it was very Michael – he asked me if he could ask me. He wanted to know if it was okay to propose before he proposed.”
“I think it was super smart. It was safe. He had the ring in his backpack, so it was super cute.”
Looking to the future, the singer offered a brief insight into the couple’s wedding planning journey,
“We actually talk a lot about just going to a courthouse just the two of us and just ordering Chinese food, but knowing me, also it could become a circus with unicorns,” she quipped.
Releasing her companion album Harlequin, Gaga revealed to People that her fiance supported her throughout the project as co-executive producer.
“It’s just the first time that we decided to fully just go into it and do it. It just felt right,” she shared, later adding, “I just love my fiancé so much, He’s my best friend. He’s my partner, and I just feel like when you are with your best friend, everything changes.”
The couple’s red carpet debut as bride and groom to be comes one month after Gaga sent social media into a frenzy while attending the Olympic Games in Paris, with the singer quietly confirming her engagement after introducing Polansky to French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal as her fiance.
Gaga was in Paris to perform at the opening ceremony on July 27 and was filmed meeting Attal during the swimming competition the following day. That night Attal shared the footage to his official TikTok channel.
“Thank you Lady Gaga for your stunning performance at the opening ceremony,” Attal captioned the video. “It was breathtaking.”
In the video, Attal gives Lady Gaga a quick hug and shakes hands with Polansky, 46.
“My fiance, Michael,” Lady Gaga can be heard casually saying, and viewers were quick to pick up Gaga’s quiet confirmation that she was engaged.
“GAGA IS ENGAGED,” one follower wrote, adding crying and love heart emojis.
“She was awesome and congratulations on your engagement. You deserve to be so happy,” wrote another.

Michael Polansky is a businessman and tech entrepreneur. The Harvard University graduate runs Napster founder Sean Parker’s company, Parker Group.
It’s thought that Parker may have introduced the couple.
