Lily Sastry: How well do you know Rowan Atkinson’s daughter?

Mr Bean's daughter is also a performer.

Who is Rowan Atkinson?

Rowan Atkinson, 64, aka Mr Bean, is a famous, English comedian best-known for his silent, comic sketches that turn ordinary situations into moments of excruciating embarrassment.

He is said to have based Mr Bean on a character he thought up while studying for his master’s degree at Oxford University. He describes Mr Bean as “a child in a grown man’s body”.

The 64-year-old is also known for his work on the comedy sitcom Blackadder and in films such as Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Lion King, and Love Actually

Rowan, who attracted almost 19 million viewers in his role as Mr Bean at its peak, has amassed a fortune of an estimated $125 million.

Rowan married Sunetra Sastry, a makeup artist who he met on the set of Blackadder, in February 1990 and they had two children together, Ben, 26, and Lily, 24.

They separated in 2014 and were divorced on 10 November 2015

Rowan started seeing Louise Ford, 34, an actress who plays Kate Middleton in hit comedy The Windsors, in 2014. They first met while appearing in the play Quartermaine’s Terms in 2013.

She gave birth to his third child, a daughter named Isla, in December 2017.

Who is Lily Sastry?

Lily Sastry, 24, formerly known as Lily Atkinson, is a performer in her own right, working as a singer and burlesque dancer.

She joined the entertainment industry as a child artist and first appeared in the children’s movie Tooth in 2004, which, according to IMDb, tells the story of a young Tooth Fairy who has lost her ability to use magic. The film is partly a feel-good children’s movie and also a Christmas film.

She also had small roles in her father’s films Mr. Bean’s Holiday and Johnny English Reborn

Rather than continuing down the acting route, she started to learn cabaret and performed her first big cabaret show at The Pheasantry, a well-known supper club in London.

“This is my first cabaret show,” she told the audience. “This is my first time I’ve been dressed this small and I’m very excited.”

She then went on to star is a one-woman West End cabaret show in 2016 for two nights, called Lily with the accompaniment of a live band.

“Vocally, I am better than I have ever been; physically, mentally — it’s the hardest I have ever worked on a gig,” Lily told My Theatre Mates ahead of the gig

“I have just challenged myself in every possible way, and taken risks.”

Speaking about her performance background, she added: “I had always been a writer, but I was about 14/15 when I really started writing music. I just loved writing stories and poems, coming up with melodies; I was always challenging myself. Of course, already being a singer and performer, I worked out pretty quickly what I wanted to do.”

Why has Lily Atkinson changed her name?

Lily has not spoken about why she dropped her father’s surname and took up her mother’s surname, but the change came after her father announced in 2017 that he was expecting his third child with a woman three decades his junior.

However, last year, she proved that there was no more bad blood after she accompanied him at the premiere of his film Johnny English Strikes Again

Where did Lily Sastry grow up?
