Pregnant Margot Robbie was positively glowing as she stepped out with her blooming baby bump proudly on display while on a getaway with husband Tom Ackerley in Sardinia on August 26.
The star looked effortlessly chic as she draped a white shirt over her pregnant belly, pairing it with loose black pants, a black hat and sunglasses.
It was confirmed that Robbie and Ackerley, both 34, were expecting their first child together in July, with an insider telling People magazine that the couple was “happy” the news was finally out.
“Family means a lot to both of them and they knew early on in their relationship being parents was something they really wanted,” the source said, adding the pair
had been keeping the news “under wraps” for a while.
New details emerged on July 7, when an insider told People that Robbie and Ackerley had “wanted to start a family for quite some time”.
The pregnancy news broke after paparazzi photos emerged of the couple in Lake Como, with Margot displaying a baby bump in a crop top.
Margot and Tom have been married for almost eight years after tying the knot in a private ceremony in Byron Bay in 2016,
The pair met in 2013 on the set of Suite Française, and initially, were just friends. “I was the ultimate single gal. The idea of relationships made me want to vomit. And then this crept up on me,” she told Vogue in 2016.
“We were friends for so long. I was always in love with him, but I thought, Oh, he would never love me back. Don’t make it weird, Margot. Don’t be stupid and tell him that you like him,” she said. “And then it happened, and I was like, Of course we’re together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before.”
Despite keeping details of their relationship largely out of the public eye, the pair are also business partners. Margot and Tom co-founded the production company LuckyChap together and have gone on to produce movies including I, Tonya, Birds of Prey and Barbie.
“It’s seamless,” Tom explained to The Sunday Times when asked how the couple separate business and pleasure. “We don’t have a toggle on, toggle off. It’s all become one thing,” adding that they spend “24 hours a day” together.
Now, with a baby on the way, is it possible the loved-up duo will settle in Australia?
Growing up on the Gold Coast, Robbie once hinted she’d prefer to raise her family in Australia.
Speaking to The Project in 2016, Robbie’s mother, Sarie Kessler, said she missed her daughter a lot when she lives away, adding, “Margot will have children one day and they’ll be who knows where.”
Robbie then reassured her mum, saying, “They’ll be here, yes, yes, the kids will be in Australia.’”
If that statement remains true, a big move could be on the cards for Robbie and Ackerley, who spend most of their time living in Los Angeles.
In 2021, it was reported they were doing major renovations on their Venice Beach compound.
“It’s going to be contemporary in style, and light and airy with an open living plan and lots of bedrooms,” a source told InTouch. The source also suggested the pair have been thinking about babies since production ended on Barbie.
“Margot has always wanted kids with Tom, but it was a matter of timing,” they revealed, adding, “She wants to have a baby and she’s looking forward to this next phase of her life.”
