The Office star Mindy Kaling has taken to Instagram to announce she welcomed her third child in February 2024.
“In late February I gave birth to my daughter, Anne. She’s the best birthday present I could’ve ever imagined,” Mindy, who celebrates her 45th birthday in late June, wrote on Instagram.
The announcement post also included a photo of her newborn child alongside her two eldest children, Katherine, six, and Spencer, 3. She also shared a photo that featured her baby bump and an image of her in a hospital bed alongside her two older kids.
“When things are hard, whenever I veer towards cynicism, my three kids are such a great reminder of the pure joy in my life. I’m so lucky I live in a place where I could do this by myself, on my own timeline. Thanks for all the birthday wishes!” The Mindy Project star continued her caption.
Friends, co-stars and fans were quick to flood the post with messages of support, with Octavia Spencer, Reese Witherspoon, Quinta Brunson and John Legend all sharing congratulatory messages.
At this stage, the actress has not revealed any further details on Anne’s birth. She has not disclosed the identity of her daughter’s father – information she has refrained from sharing about her two eldest children as well.
Mindy’s decision to keep the paternity of her children private has become a point of discourse among fans in recent years. Many have speculated that B.J. Novak, who she co-starred alongside on The Office, is secretly the father. The two actors, who dated on and off between 2004 to 2007, have maintained a close relationship.
In 2022, Mindy addressed the rumours in an interview with Marie Claire, revealing she wasn’t bothered by the rumours and speculation.
“He’s the godparent to both my kids — and they have such a great relationship — and so far [the rumours haven’t] affected my happiness at all, it hasn’t affected my kids or B.J.,” she said at the time. “If that’s what is going to be titillating to people, I’ll take it.”
