Introduced to the world on the cover of Vanity Fair in 2006, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter Suri has become one of the most well-known celebrity children.
Following Katie and Tom’s divorce in 2012, the 18-year-old has been largely kept out of the spotlight – making a rare few public appearances alongside her mother in the years that followed.
Speaking on her commitment to keeping Suri’s life out of the public eye, Katie told Glamour, “What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her.”
While she may not be walking the red carpet, Suri has continued to shine in the entertainment industry as a singer, with Katie revealing that her daughter’s vocals featured on the soundtrack of her two most recent films, Alone Together (2022) and Rare Objects (2023).
“I hope she always does something on my films. I always ask her, but both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry… it comes out of love for me to include someone who I love dearly,” Katie told Glamour, adding, “It was very meaningful to me to have her there because she’s my heart.”
Throughout her teenage years, Suri has reportedly spent most of her time in New York City, with the teenager being more frequently spotted out and about with friends on the way to and from school.
After attending her high school prom in June 2024, Suri revealed that she would be relocating to Pennsylvania for university, with a school friend posting a video to TikTok showing the 18-year-old wearing a Carnegie Mellon University sweatshirt alongside her classmates.
While she did not share any further information on her course, sources speaking to the Daily Mail ahead of her graduation claimed that Suri plans on studying fashion during her time in college.
While Suri does not have any public social media accounts, her mum Katie has kept fans updated on her daughter’s life through a series of sweet birthday tributes – offering a rare glimpse into their family life.
“I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s such an incredible person,” Katie told Glamour ahead of Suri’s 17th birthday.
Prior to her most recent interview, Katie last commented on parenthood in 2018, telling Modern Luxury, “I think the most important thing in my life is giving my child the childhood I want her to have. That comes first.”
“When I’m not on set, I’m being a mum. I’m doing mum stuff. When I go to an event, I leave at 10 pm because it’s really important to me to be a mum that is dependable.”
