Who is Toni Collette’s husband?
While she has not spoken about her current relationship status, Toni Collette was previously married to musician and actor Dave Galafassi.
The couple tied the knot in 2003 after a whirlwind romance that began after they crossed paths at one of Galafassi’s gigs. Reflecting on their first meeting, Colette told The Sydney Morning Herald, “He was the first person I saw when I walked in the door. He kissed me on the cheek and I just kind of melted. I planned to stay for 10 minutes… I was there for 12 hours.”
Galafassi is best known as the drummer for the band Gelbison and throughout the couple’s relationship, he has also worked alongside the Muriel’s Wedding star in her musical ventures, touring across Australia with her band Toni Collette & The Finish.
Over the years, Collette and Galafassi maintained a relatively private life, however, following her appearance in Netflix’s Wanderlust, the actress offered a brief glimpse into his reaction to her 2018 performance.
“He’s really open-minded and pretty aware of what life can throw at people. The one thing he did say was, ‘This is the best thing you’ve ever done.’ It made me cry,” she told The Sydney Morning Herald in 2018.
After nearly two decades of marriage, the couple confirmed their separation in December 2022 via a joint statement on Instagram.
“After a substantial period of separation, it is with grace and gratitude that we announce we are divorcing. We’re united in our decision and part with continuing respect and care for each other,” the couple wrote.
“Our kids are of paramount importance to us and we will continue to thrive as a family, albeit in a different shape.”
Does Toni Collette have children?
Toni Collette and Dave Galafassi are the proud parents of two children, 16-year-old daughter Sage Florence and 13-year-old son Arlo Robert.
Since welcoming her first child in January 2008, Collette has kept many of the details of her family life out of the spotlight, however, she has often spoken about the joys and challenges of motherhood and finding her work-life balance.
“I think I have enough self-awareness to do whatever comes along. I don’t feel like it’s a balancing act at work, but I don’t know. I’ve never had a plan and I still don’t. I’m talking about the idea of direction, and just happy being a mum and spending time with my kids,” she told TIME in 2018.
