We’ve all been dying to know: what happened to Redfoo?
He’s a talented producer, artist, dancer, tennis player, and tech geek – but he’s most famous for his club banger hits, his iconic hairstyle, and his loud outfits. Apparently Redfoo’s been enjoying life away from the spotlight with his new girlfriend and three dogs. Keep reading to find out more about his life and what he’s up to these days!

The Foo Fam
Redfoo was born and raised in Los Angeles by his mum Nancy Leiviska, now proudly known as ‘momfoo’. His parents divorced when he was just a tiny tot, but they ended on good terms. Redfoo’s real name is Stefan Kendal Gordy, and his dad is Berry Gordy (AKA ‘dadfoo’): the famous founder of Motown Records. He introduced his son to the biggest musicians of his time, sparking Redfoo’s interest in the biz at a young age. He has seven other half-siblings, but he’s the only one that found fame and fortune through music!
Standing Out Since Childhood
In a sit-down interview with Channel Seven, Redfoo talked about going through tough times growing up as a mixed-race kid in a white neighbourhood. “I was always different. I always stood out and people would always make fun of me.” He recalled: “They used to call me Oreo; with the white in the middle and black on the outside, they used to call me zebra. School [was] very difficult because I was always the oddball.”
He shared his inspirational story about how he found the confidence to turn things around. “What’s interesting is that Oreos became my favourite cookie, zebras became my favourite animal print. I kind of just took everything that people thought was weird about me and used it as a strength. And one day I just looked, and I said you know what I’m not white, I’m not black, I’m not, I’m just me. And I renamed myself Redfoo.”
Party Rocking To The Top
According to Forbes, Redfoo wanted to pursue a tennis career, but a wrist injury brought him back to his love for Hip-Hop. He started out as a rapper and producer for other artists like Ahmad and The Black Eyed Peas, then he released an album called Balance Beam back in 1997. But it wasn’t until 2006 that he’d get his big break through his highschool buddy Will.I.Am, who introduced Redfoo to Interscope Records along with his nephew Sky Blu – and the rest is party rocker history!
Livin’ That LMFAO Life
LMFAO’s Party Rock album made its debut in 2008, featuring commercial hits like ‘I’m in Miami Bitch’, ‘Party Rock Anthem’, and ‘Shots’. Their second album in 2010 featured ‘Sorry For Party Rocking’ and ‘I’m Sexy and I Know It’. They performed with Madonna at the Superbowl in 2012, but the pressures of success took its toll on the duo, and they announced an indefinite hiatus that year.
Redfoo stated in an interview: “I feel like we’ve been doing this for so long, five or six years. And we’re kind of like saying, well, let’s just do what’s natural and just kind of explore that, instead of like, forcing it all the time.” It was supposedly ‘temporary’ but the two never reunited to perform again. There was some controversy surrounding the split when Sky Blu mentioned how his uncle kept him out of the loop in a now-deleted interview. Redfoo never addressed this claim, but their days of being partners-in-parties were over.
Getting His La Freak On
Known for his outrageous outfits and eccentric sense of style, it seems fitting that Redfoo would start his own clothing brand! Founded in 2009, his colourful collection features cropped sleeveless tops, animal print pants, swim briefs, and his signature glasses, which you can cop at partyrockclothing.com.
He shared his excitement about the business venture with news.com.au in 2015: “I’m so excited that the La Freak pop-up stores are coming to Sydney. La Freak is a bold, fashion-forward lifestyle brand from the mind of Redfoo, designed by and for daring individuals who are confident, creative, bold and outstanding.”
Every day I’m Struggling
In 2013, Redfoo wiggled his way into becoming a judge on X factor Australia, but they booted him off in 2014 after his controversial song ‘Literally I Can’t’ upset fans with its misogynistic themes. The crowd’s cheers turned into boos, but it was an incident in a Sydney pub that made him leave the land down under for good.
“All of a sudden I was just talking to some girls and…bam, something hit me in the head. He looked at me and taunted me and blew a kiss at me and winked his eye as if to say ‘I got you’ or something.” Eventually, he moved back to Hollywood and joined Dancing With The Stars in 2015, but sadly, he was the first to get eliminated.
YOLO and Going Solo
Redfoo debuted his solo album Party Rock Mansion in 2016, featuring the singles ‘Juicy Wiggle’, ‘New Thang’, and ‘Party Train’. He even went on tour backed by his Party Rock Crew, but his record sales were terrible – selling only 144 copies in Australia. What a party pooper!
What He’s Up To Now
Now 44, Redfoo has a massive net worth of $USD14 million and keeps himself busy with his other hobbies. Even though he’s well past the height of his fame, he hasn’t outgrown his love for music, fashion, and party rocking!
Still Making Music
Though Redfoo has stepped away from the limelight, he continues to work on songs and beats. In 2018, he released his latest song ‘Brand New Day’, where he talks about positivity, change, and love. Despite his unrecognisably serious tone, he still injects his brand of fun in everything he does. Redfoo continues to tour the world, and judging by his website, his schedule is jam-packed with events and shows!
Code Mode
Just last year, author and broadcaster Adam Spencer tweeted to ask: “Any word on what @redfoo has been up to lately? Really curious to know.” Redfoo replied just a few minutes later, and it turns out that our favourite shuffler has been coding a video game of his own!
He’s Vegan And He Knows It
The Booty Man has dated lots of babes in the past, but he’s totally in love with his current girlfriend Jasmine Alkouri: a chef and road manager who now lives with him in his mansion. They’ve made lots of clickbait videos together on his YouTube channel, and his new lady inspired him to lead a healthier lifestyle! She’s an Instagram-famous vegan and fitness buff, supporting her man’s transition to a plant-based diet since 2017. They also work out together regularly – how cute!
Redfoo’s been raving about his lifestyle changes in his vlogs, explaining how going Vegan has helped keep him stay in shape while saving the (party) animals. When Forbes Magazine asked him about his plans in 2018, he told them: “I have to go back on tour this year after taking time for myself, but I kinda just want to sit at home. We have three dogs, the St. Bernard, and two Great Danes. We are currently building out the backyard to grow our own food, our own tomatoes, potatoes. Our vegan dogs love that.”
LMFAO Reunion
In an interview with Mahogany Lox two years ago, Redfoo playfully hinted at a reunion with Sky Blu, but he hasn’t followed up on that comment since then. While we’d love to see them rocking the stage like the good old days, we’re just happy to know they’ve squashed the beef that caused them to split seven years ago.
In a 2012 interview with news.com.au, he mentioned how he’d never stop loving the sound that he pioneered nearly a decade ago, and he’s kept his word. “All the music that I’m going to make is always going to be LMFAO-ish…I love all the topics that we talk about. I was really passionate about bringing party music to the world, so I will always be making some kind of party music.”
Party On
Redfoo is a shining example of what it means to never give up on your dreams. Whether he’s partying it up during performances or chilling at home, he’s fulfilled his mission of showing us that life is all about having a good time!
