Margot Robbie and her husband Tom Ackerley are one of the most private couples in the industry. The Aussie actress and producer tends to keep her romance with the British actor and film producer to herself, often posing solo on red carpets and not divulging much information about her personal life.

She once told reporters, “Being married is not my achievement,” when they insisted on asking her about her relationship during a press conference for I,Tonya in 2017. Recounting the story to Page Six around the time, she explained that after she told them, “My achievement is producing this film and having a producing deal with a major studio — that is my achievement,” they “shut up”.

But their privacy doesn’t mean they’re afraid to combine their passions on projects. The couple, who secretly tied the knot in Byron Bay in 2016 previously teamed up to create LuckyChap Entertainment, the production company that brought Barbie and Saltburn to the world. And now, they have launched a gin brand together with some friends. It’s clear they are both great life partners and business partners.

In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Ackerley opened up about their dynamic explaining they’ve nailed the work-life balance, with ease. “It’s seamless,” he said. “We don’t have a toggle on, toggle off. It’s all become one thing.”

While they spend “24 hours” together, they don’t get on each other’s nerves, although he admitted he does “wish there was more of a sporting rivalry” between their home countries, Australia and England.

Sports aside, there’s another big debate that stands between some Brits and Aussies which has made its way into their marriage. Ackerley told the publication the height of their disagreements come down to, “whether Tim Tams or Penguins are better”.

Chocolate biscuits being the biggest divide in a household points to a pretty peaceful marriage overall. We assume Robbie is on the side of the Aussie delicacy, which is the only right answer.

With a film empire under their belt and an alcohol business just beginning, Robbie told The Sunday Times it’s unlikely they’ll stray far from that with any future businesses.”

“Our passions are movies and drinks… And now we’ve ticked them both,” she said.
