Truth hides in paradise.
That’s the intriguing tag line for Stan’s hotly anticipated new series Eden, which teases a gripping and dark mystery in an idyllic coastal town.
The eight-part Aussie series, which is set in the New South Wales town of Eden (but filmed in the Byron Bay area) follows the disappearance of a young woman named Hedwig after a drug-fuelled night out.
The streaming giant teases that Hedwig’s “triggers a devastating chain of events which lays bare the dark, hidden heart of the community”.
Secrets are exposed, differing perspectives of the same events are questioned and hedonism and clandestine relationships are pushed to the fore.
“The inspiration for Eden really comes from my interest in human beings and human behaviour. I’m fascinated by the secrets people keep, the lies that they tell and the lies that they tell themselves. I’m interested in the kind of internal self, compared to the self that people show the world and what happens when that’s at odds,” series creator Vanessa Gazy revealed.
“There’s a unique opportunity in terms of the structure of Eden because it’s told as a portrait of a town with each episode focusing on a different character so it really means we are able to deep dive into those characters and get inside people’s heads and see what the difference is over time in how they present to the world versus who we discover they truly are underneath.”
So who exactly are the cast behind the characters in Stan’s game-changing new thriller? We’ve rounded them up below.
Eden is streaming now on Stan, with all episode dropping at once.
