Popular radio star Jackie O, 43, has revealed the real reason why she’s sporting a scary-looking abrasion on her forehead, after a girls’ weekend away with mate Sophie Monk. Photos from that outing left fans worried about what had happened.

Taking to Instagram as speculation mounted online about how she sustained the wound, Jackie revealed it was down to a necessary medical procedure: getting a skin cancer removed.

‘Don’t let our kids make the same mistakes,’ she wrote, posing with daughter Kitty. ‘Slip, slop slap.”

The star – who has never made any secret of the fact she was a Gold Coast beach girl in her teens – revealed back in September that she had been diagnosed with the condition and would need it removed.

‘I’m going to have a big scare on my forehead, I’m going to have stitches,’ she revealed. ‘Don’t call me Scarface, don’t tease me about it but it’s happening soon.

‘The worst part is you could [usually] cover it with hair, like I could do a swooping [fringe] – you know, like I usually do with my hair.

‘But exactly where the scar is, that’s where my cowlick is, so it always separates. So it’s like a little curtain opening. I can’t even hide it with hair.’

Jackie says she has a family history of the problem, wisely gets regularly checked, and has already had ‘heaps cut out.

‘But they’re always in places you don’t see. They’re harmless ones. They’re not like the deadly ones

‘I had one just below the collarbone and that took eight months [to heal]. It was quite a red scar.’

Better that than the alternative! Well done to Jackie for increasing awareness.

Get your skin checked, people!
