Jessika Power had high hopes for this season of Married At First Sight, once admitting she was excited to see the contestants butt heads, cheat, lie and potentially find love.

However, just like thousands of other viewers, the reality TV sensation turned Instagram influencer says the show has failed to deliver the goods, admitting she’s one step away from changing the channel!
“We are almost at the end of this season and I don’t know about you guys but thank god,” she told New Idea, weighing in on last night’s episode and commitment ceremony. “I have been snoring the whole time. There has been no drama, no interesting things happening, no one is falling in love and everyone seems to hate each other. It’s sad there haven’t been any genuine matches yet.”
“This show is going down real fast. Hopefully, next year is better, but if not, I’m tuning out.”
Unlike last year, multiple contestants are sticking around because they’ve formed strong friendships with one another, leaving Jess to rightfully point out that this is a dating experiment, not an opportunity to find your best bud.
“Mishel and Steve… You are both friends. It’s sad because you keep writing ‘stay’ for a friendship which doesn’t make any sense to me. It’s so clear that he isn’t interested, so take your stuff, pack it up and just leave already,” she said, addressing the mum directly.
She echoed a similar sentiment when discussing Jonethen and Connie’s overly strange and extremely complex relationship, saying they shouldn’t be questioning where they stand at the tail end of the controversial series.
“You guys are up and down like a rollercoaster. I don’t know what is going and he’s made it very clear that he isn’t attracted to her and doesn’t want to be with her,” she said. “He has asked to leave the experiment so many times. You are a great girl and you have so many good qualities, but why waste your time and waste his?”
Refusing to mince her words, Jess went on to say their lack of chemistry and inability to see eye to eye on the same issues they discuss every week has become repetitive, boring and a complete waste of everyone’s time.
“What are they going to say at the finale vows? ‘Oh, I had a really good time here and I am so glad we have a really good friendship.’ Final vows are for deciding whether or not you want to continue your relationship outside of the experiment and it’s so clear neither of you wants to.
“So what are you doing? You are wasting my time, you are wasting Australia’s time and you’re wasting Jonethen’s time. Go, you’re boring.”
Unsurprisingly, this isn’t the first time Jess has expressed her frustration, recently announcing that watching the mundane and overly used storylines play out on our screens has been extremely underwhelming.
“Channel Nine, Married At First Sight, this episode was pathetic,” Jess told New Idea after last week’s dinner party episode aired.
“The producers need to get into line, like, where’s the interest? If I wasn’t doing a recap I would’ve turned it off. It’s so boring. Everyone I have spoken to has said this season is boring. Even Lizzie even said herself that it is boring.”
She continued: “I don’t know what they’ve done this season but the whole episode was only about whether or not someone slept with someone. That’s really boring. I would rather turn on the news.”
With every contestant hurling the same insults across the table time and time again, Jess declared she’s lost interest in the show as MAFS producers continue to push the same petty narrative, rather than letting the drama unfold naturally.
“They looked at last year and knew what got the ratings— young people with lots of confidence and a bit of energy. So they thought, let’s just chuck all of those sorts of people into the room and see what happens. Unfortunately, they’re all the same person. In our season, everyone was different and there were different opinions and personalities that made it interesting. We had Cyrell, me, Cam and Jules… That’s how it should have gone.”
