After three years of dating, Joaquin Phoenix, 42, finally proposed to his girlfriend Rooney Mara, according to reports.
The news shouldn’t come as a huge shock considering The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo actress was spotted sporting a huge diamond ring on her left hand less than two months ago.

Best known for his role in film like Gladiator and Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot, Joaquin met Rooney back in 2016 on the set of the hit film Mary Magdalene. Shortly after filming wrapped, the pair went public with their romance, making their red carpet debut in May 2017 at the Cannes Film Festival’s closing ceremony.
Although they’ve always been notoriously private about their relationship, Joaquin confirmed earlier this year that he and the beloved actress were living together in Hollywood Hills.
“They don’t really like to go out,” an insider told Us Weekly. “They mainly just like to be with each other as the two of them. They’re in their own bubble.”
While they rarely make appearances together in public, the low key couple apparently enjoy quiet double dates with Rooney’s sister Kate Mara and her husband Jamie Bell.
“[Rooney and I] live in L.A. and the rest of our family is in New York, so we try to see each other as much as possible,” Kate, 36, told Us Weekly in July 2018. “We talk about everything personal that you would talk [about] with your close friends, your siblings.”
Kate and her hubby welcomed their first child together in May, revealing on Instagram that she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.
“We had a baby a couple weeks ago … Here are her feet 💕,” the 36-year-old captioned a photo of the bub.
