We’re only nine days into 2020 and Khloe Kardashian has already found herself at the centre of a scandal.

Last night, fans of the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star expressed their disgust and disappointment when she shared a photo of herself to Instagram and Twitter, promoting what many deem to be a “harmful” diet shake.

I’ve posted with ’s Shakes in the past and YES, I also use a personal trainer and nutritionist, but THESE SHAKES WORK to help get your tummy back to flat,” the mum-of-one captioned a photo of herself in the gym holding a Flat Tummy shake. “Trust me you guys… Go get 25% off the same Shakes I drink.”

While this isn’t the first time the Good American founder has advertised weight loss aids, many fans were desperate to believe she was past the point of potentially damaging body image perceptions. Some also pointed out that her fan base includes young and impressionable women who may be struggling with their self-worth.

“It’s 2020 we are leaving diet fads in 2019. Loving our bodies the way they are while working out and being kind to them are what we’re gonna do in 2020, not force ourselves into dark thoughts with our bodies. It’s time to stop promoting this garbage and live confidently in our own skin,” one Twitter user wrote.

“This family has always been awful role models and the fact that EVERY member of this family post stuff like that and promote a way of living that isn’t good for everyone,” another added.

A different furious follower also pointed out that having a flat stomach at all times is unrealistic and completely abnormal.

“Reminder that most peoples’ tummies shouldn’t be flat so if yours isn’t flat you are completely normal and you don’t have to go “back” to anything because that’s just not how your organs work!! Most flat tummy shakes and teas and similar products contain laxatives.”

Another honest fan of Khloe’s detailed her long-winded battle with an eating disorder, admitting seeing posts such as these is extremely “triggering” and “harmful” to her recovery.

“Yaaas keep promoting these laxative drinks, Khloe. It’s not like young fans are impressionable or anything,” another sarcastically wrote.

The mum to True Thompson found herself in a similar predicament last year when promoting these shakes, with The Good Place actress Kameela Jamil calling her out in a scathing Instagram post.

“If you’re too irresponsible to: a) own up to the fact that you have a personal trainer, nutritionist, probable chef, and a surgeon to achieve your aesthetic, rather than this laxative product…And b) tell them the side effects of this NON-FDA approved product, that most doctors are saying aren’t healthy […] then I guess I have to.”

She continued: “It’s incredibly awful that this industry bullied you until you became this fixated on your appearance. That’s the media’s fault. But now please don’t put that back into the world, and hurt other girls, the way you would have been hurt. You’re a smart woman. Be smarter than this.”
