Who is Lizzo dating?
In February 2023, Lizzo announced she was dating comedian Myke Wright.
Following the pre-Grammy gala where the pair walked the red carpet together, Lizzo posted photos of them together on her personal Instagram, alongside the caption “hard launch”.
It is unknown exactly how long the pair have been dating. Lizzo and Wright have known each other since 2016 and were pictured stepping out together since 2021. In 2022, Lizzo confessed to Andy Cohen that she was dating somebody.
So, who is Myke Wright?
Myke appears to have a number of different ventures on the go, but he is best known as a stand-up comedian.
Interestingly, he is also a product designer with a brand called Umi, and followers of his Instagram will frequently see concepts for smart devices and even architectural designs.
In terms of common ground with his mega-famous girlfriend, Myke also hails from Detroit. He also has hints of a musical background, sharing he was previously part of two bands.
What is Lizzo’s real name?
It will shock no one that Lizzo’s real name is, in fact, not Lizzo.
Her real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson but she started going by ‘Lizzo’ as a teenager.
The musical pseudonym was inspired by Jay Z’s track ‘Izzo’ and is also a spin on her nickname, Lissa, a shortening of Melissa.
Does Lizzo play the flute?
Those attending a Lizzo live performance can expect the musician to bust out her favourite instrument: the flute.
Lizzo is a classically trained flautist and has been playing the instrument since she was 10 years old.
Is Lizzo an EGOT?
Lizzo does not currently have the coveted EGOT status, but she currently has two of the four!
An acronym of Emmy Grammy Oscar and Tony, EGOT is the (unofficial) title offered to those in the entertainment industry who have won all four of these awards.
Lizzo currently has four Grammy awards, including her recent Record of the Year win for About Damn Time.
In 2022, she also won an Outstanding Competition Show Emmy for her Amazon Prime series, Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls. The documentary talent search tracked her quest to find back-up dancers ahead of her world tour.
Should she collect an Oscar and a Tony Award she would join greats like Viola Davis, Jennifer Hudson and Rita Moreno.
While she may not be an EGOT (yet!), Lizzo does have a Guinness World Record.
In 2019, her single ‘Truth Hurts’ broke the record for the most weeks at No.1 on the US singles charts for a rap single by a female artist.
