It’s safe to say that when Beck Zemek met her groom Jake Edwards during the Married At First Sight 2021 premiere, things did not get off to a flying start.

As soon as she rocked up to the altar, Beck’s first impressions of her TV husband were not what she expected.

“I thought I’d see this really happy, amazing smile but I got more of a ‘Ooh she’s hot’ kind of face,” she said before stating that Jake was looking at her like she was “sex on a stick.”

But in a chat with Sydney Nova radio duo Fitzy and Wippa, the MAFS bride, 27, admitted that not only were her expectations were very high after being told she would meet her soulmate but that she didn’t get a warm vibe from him at that first meeting.

“It’s the vibe. I spoke to Jake about it towards the end of the night but it wasn’t warm. It felt like a business meeting – it was very structured and awkward. It was absolutely awkward even when he turned around, silent.”

When asked if she was happy with her portrayal in the first episode, Beck replied: “I think everyone will be able to see the real me as the show goes on hopefully,” but remarked that the producers did a good job with how she was edited.

“Everyone wants to watch more don’t they?”

Despite being dubbed the villain edit, Beck said that she honestly feels she came across as honest.

“If I’m not upfront and honest about how I’m feeling.. then I’m not being honest to Jake, I’m not being honest to myself.”

It’s early days but we’re not holding our breath for Beck and Jake to go the distance.

With the lack of chemistry and Jake’s alleged shady past, we don’t see these two being the Cam and Jules of the season.

What’s more, Jake appears to be back home in Melbourne whilst Beck is back on the west coast and living in her hometown of Perth. Either they’re doing long-distance (doubtful) or they’re donezo.

Beck has already copped a fair share of backlash on social media but isn’t going to be letting trolls get to her this season.

The WA beauty has already deactivated comments from her Instagram page and the official MAFS page has taken a stance against online bullying this year.

“We all love watching MAFS and following the journey of the participants in Australia’s biggest social experiment. So let’s celebrate our couples, support and encourage them,” the statement released on the premiere night read.

“Comments on the official MAFS social accounts are moderated and any that are offensive or personally attack participants of fellow MAFS viewers will not be tolerated. Anyone who continually breaches the community guidelines will be blocked.”
