Former Married at First Sight contestant, Coco Stedman, has shared a reflective Instagram post for her 31st birthday today.
“I usually use my birthday post to reflect on what I learnt in the last year. Needless to say, this year was one of my toughest yet (however, I truly believe that you are given certain trials and tribulations in order to grow in the area you need to),” the pilates instructor wrote on Instagram on Friday morning.
“I think one of the biggest lessons I learnt was trying to become something I wasn’t born to be in order to please others,” she penned.
“My birthday wish is for you to realise that you should only do something for yourself, what feels right for you in your gut.”
“Don’t let external pressure make you feel that you have to be something you’re not,” she continued.
Coco has first-hand experience with this given her time on MAFS, where she was paired with Sam Carraro.
It proved to be a contentious pairing from the start, with the couple obviously not gelling.
It got worse when Coco kissed another groom, Cameron, causing further difficulties and drama.
“It [the relationship with Coco] was just dead in the water. You know I was always trying to make something happen that just wasn’t there,” Sam told Nine after leaving the show.
“I think that Coco and I — whilst we had a lot in common — were two totally different personalities. She’s very loud and very extra. While I have a big personality, I like someone who’s a little bit more reserved and doesn’t have terrible one-liners,” he added.
Their stark differences meant the couple did not go the distance, but Australia did seem to fall for Coco’s loud and honest personality.
“Keep on truckin’, remember to be grateful, forget past pain and count your blessings,” Coco continued the caption.
“Also know that in your darkest of days, I am there with you in spirit giving you the strength you wish you had. BLESSINGS ON BLESSINGS, YOU SWEET ANGELS.”
