Why Margot Robbie hated filming sex scenes in ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’

It might've looked raunchy, but the star reveals it was anything but.

Playing Naomi LaPaglia in ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ was the breakthrough role Margot Robbie needed to crack Hollywood.

Overnight, she went from a small time Australian actress to one of the most sought-after stars in the industry. Despite this, Robbie has now revealed to Porter Magazine that filming those famously raunchy sex scenes alongside Leonardo DiCaprio— who was practically a stranger at the time— was extremely awkward.

In one scene, Robbie’s character, Naomi LaPaglia, teased her husband Jordan Belford (played by DiCaprio) with the possibility of sex in their child’s nursery. Wearing a skin-tight pink dress, suggesting she had nothing on underneath, her character touched herself, moaning: “Mommy is just so sick and tired of wearing panties.”

“It doesn’t come across when you’re watching the movie, but in reality, we’re in a tiny bedroom with 30 crew crammed in,” Robbie said, adding that there were no other women in the room when they filmed this scene. “And for 17 hours I’m pretending to be touching myself.

“It’s just a very weird thing and you have to bury the embarrassment and absurdity, really deep, and fully commit.”
