Three years ago, Rob Mills slid into ABC presenter Georgie Tunny’s Instagram DMs. Now, the couple are not only all loved-up but are, in Rob’s words “tracking along nicely.”

The Neighbours actor, who’s reprising his role of Finn Kelly for a week on the hit Aussie soap, couldn’t resist laughing when we asked if an engagement is on the cards, but confirmed that he and Georgie have taken the next step.

“We’re tracking along nicely, we’re coming up to three years and we’ve just moved into our place. She was living at my place in the city and we’ve just moved out of there and into our place which is lovely,” Rob exclusively tells WHO.

“We’re doing adult stuff – we’re going furniture shopping and buying a couch.”

Whilst many couples felt the strain during lockdown, Rob says that he and Georgie kept busy with their routine and was thankful that Georgie was able to work full-time.

“Like everyone else you just do what you do. You exercise, go for walks, talk to each other – normal relationship stuff,” he says.

“She was going to work every morning and I would pick her up. We had a pretty good COVID actually. I say that now, but who knows how it really went, I’ve got a pretty bad memory!” he laughs, adding: “I said to Georgie the other night ‘You know what one of the best things about dating me is? I’ve got a pretty bad memory so if anything bad happened during that 2020 period I don’t remember!’”

Professionally, Neighbours fans can expect to see Rob back in Erinsborough but just for a week.

Rob’s villainous character Finn (who he jokes was “just misunderstood”) was dramatically killed off in March last year but plans to bring him back were in the works even then.

In fact, the actor was excited to get back on set and reunite with the cast and crew, including Jackie Woodburne and Bonnie Anderson.

“Nothing much changes out there other than wearing masks and socially distancing – it is just a well-oiled machine out there,” he says of the iconic Melbourne set.

Rob adds: “To be honest it’s good to see everyone employed, one of the things I love most about it is that they made it work. There are hundreds of people, cast and crew, who work at Neighbours, so it was really good just to see everyone happy. There are a lot of people around the country and around the world that aren’t working at all so everyone was super grateful.

“I think that’s what makes the company such a good place to work as well – everyone’s super grateful to have a job and be part of something so iconic.”

Following his Neighbours stint that’s set to air from March 2, Rob is keeping busy with rehearsals for the national tour of Chess The Musical alongside Paulini and Natalie Bassingthwaighte.

But with Australian Idol returning in 2022, the former contestant admits that he’s keen to be a part of the re-boot.

“I would like to start a petition where I host the show,” Rob says.

“I would love to host it, that’s probably my dream job to host and mentor the kids coming through and show them the ropes and what I’ve learned.”
