While Emma Watkins and Lachlan Gillespie said ‘I do’ in the NSW Southern Highlands at an idyllic wedding on April 9, the Wiggly couple went back to work just two days later.
“It’s perfect,” Gillespie told WHO at the time. “We don’t see our jobs ever as work anyway.”
Seven months later, the Yellow and Purple Wiggles have continued their first year of married bliss in an extended honeymoon of sorts.
“It’s been really busy,” Watkins, 27, tells WHO. “We’ve been all around Australia, and then we went America, New Zealand and Canada, and now we’re back.”
Along with Anthony Field (Blue) and Simon Pryce (Red), Gillespie and Watkins are currently touring around the capital cities, with Adelaide next on Nov. 27, during the Wiggles’ 25th anniversary year.
“It’s been a celebration in every city we’ve performed in,” Watkins says, especially for their youngest fans, “because it’s the first time they’ve seen us since we were married.”
Children have brought the couple wedding cards and gifts at each tour stop. “Somebody constructed an entire cake made of Play-Doh with our figurines on the top,” Watkins says. “It’s been really lovely.”
Pryce anticipates he will get that particular kind of attention lavished upon him, too, once he weds fiancée Lauren Hannaford, a personal trainer and former Wiggles backup dancer.
“We are still working on our dates,” concedes Pryce, 44, who proposed to Hannaford, 30, his girlfriend of four years, while on a trip to Paris in February.
“We’ve got a few penciled in but we’re working on our tour scheduling before we can lock it all in, but it’s really exciting. We can’t wait.”
Adds Hannaford about her connection with Pryce, “I had such a fun time touring with the Wiggles for all those years.
“I think back and now I think the whole reason that all happened was so we could meet. That’s been the best part and that makes me very happy.”
