Phoebe Burgess has shared a candid snap of the moment she best remembers becoming a family with her two young kids, Poppy and Billy, reflecting on her love and gratitude for them.
“This photo is a bit of a mess,” she wrote alongside the image, which showed Phoebe nursing Billy in hospital while Poppy drinks a bottle, also on the bed.
“It also happens to be perfect … and it’s my favourite image of all time. This is the first meal they ate together with their exhausted, sore and totally love-struck Mum,” she continued.
“While it’s definitely the slightly less glossy version of it, this is the moment we became family… I call it ‘The Milk Bar’.
“Not a day goes by where I am anything less than grateful for this mess I made … scars and all.”
Phoebe is currently in the process of opening up about ‘her story’ in the media, having recently spoken to The Australian about the realities of her marriage to former NRL player Sam Burgess.
She has now released two podcast episodes with Mia Freedman on No Filter, where she has gone into further detail.
Across her various media interviews, her love for her kids has consistently shined through.
“I wouldn’t necessarily call lockdown with two highly energetic, needy and growing children relaxing,” Phoebe told WHO in an exclusive chat earlier this month.
“But what I really, really cherished was slowing down with Poppy and Billy, taking the time to sit down and really engage in their little words,” she revealed.
“I used to be too busy or not find the time, but now we have rituals that I will never trade … well, until they’re completely embarrassed by me and my lame rituals!”
Fans of Phoebe took to the comments on her Instagram post with rallying support.
“Love and admire your strength. Your babies are so lucky to have you as their mumma xx” one wrote.
“You are truly amazing!”
“This image is raw & completely beautiful ❤️,” another added.
“Thank YOU for being amazing and sharing your story to help so many others xxxx,” wrote Liza Ratliff, who produces the No Filter podcast.
Currently, Phoebe co-parents her children with her ex-husband, but lives in the NSW town of Bowral with her parents.
She posts about the kids regularly, sharing snaps of them riding horses, bikes, scooters, and getting up to various country shenanigans.
“Scootering is my current happy place,” Phoebe told WHO.
“We’re together, we’re outside, but we are quiet in our own little worlds on our scooters. I love anything that’s an adventure with the kids.”
