Sunning herself on holiday in Corsica, France, Kourtney Kardashian stripped down to a string bikini on July 26 to spend a blissful day swimming off a yacht with her three kids— Mason, 9, Penelope, 7, and 4-year-old Reign — and friends including longtime pal Simon Huck. The next day the reality star, 40, posted a photo of herself from her day in the sun, sitting on a rock in the yellow bikini while wearing a snorkelling mask. She captioned the pic with three spaghetti emojis and the same day took to Instagram stories to post a video of herself chowing down on spaghetti next to a pool with her model sister Kendall Jenner, 23.
Although Kourtney is known for her commitment to healthy eating and consistent workouts, “When I’m travelling (and sometimes on the weekend), I’ll cheat – I’m a little more lenient,” she tells WHO. “But when I’m home and in my day-to-day routine, I try to exercise five to six times a week and eat healthy every day.”
A source tells WHO that the 152cm tall reality star – known to try out trendy diets like keto and intermittent fasting – works hard to keep her weight consistent.
“She works out and eats in order to try to stay around [45kg],” the source says, adding that Kourtney doesn’t want to get too thin. “Yes, she eats very healthily, but she wants her body to be healthy and not underweight or malnourished.”
She also has to focus on keeping her weight up, because “her body type is very different from her sisters’”, adds the source, noting Kim Kardashian West and Khloé Kardashian have long documented their efforts to lose weight.
Generally, Kourtney tries to eat organic foods as much as possible and limits her sugar intake. “I always try to avoid sugar
– especially refined sugar – for so many reasons,” she previously said on her app. “First, sugar is addictive, and I notice that after I eat it, I need it. Sugar doesn’t sustain you when you actually need energy, like for a workout. Also, when I eat sugar, I find that more cellulite appears.”
In June, she outlined her plan for a sizzling summer body on her lifestyle website, Poosh.
“I wanted to start summer feeling (and looking) my best, so I decided to go back on keto for the second time,” she wrote, referring to a high-protein, low-carb eating plan that is designed to induce ‘ketosis’, a metabolic state that happens when your body switches from burning carbs to burning fat. “My body never looked better than when I did the keto diet two-and-a-half years ago, when I did it for two months. In my experience, I’ve found the best method to train my body to curb sugar cravings, burn fat and kickstart weight loss is by sticking to a keto diet.”
In the post, she shared her tips for the eating plan, including ideas for keto-friendly snacks such as walnuts or sliced avocado with olive oil, salt and pepper, kalamata olives and cauliflower pizza crust.
She also shared that she sips herbal tea while people around her indulge in desserts “to keep my hands and my mouth busy”, she blogged. “So many cravings are just your body asking you to hydrate or get some minerals, so this actually works a lot of the time.”
Having stuck to the plan for over a month, Kourt now seems to be loosening the reins, especially while enjoying herself on her European family holiday.
“I know I’ve mentioned cheat days in the past, but I prefer to think of them as treat-yourself days,” she has posted on Poosh. “These days are important because sticking with the plan 100 per cent of the time can feel limiting and on certain occasions, impossible.”
