With only a handful of couples still together from the entire 10-season run of Married At First Sight Australia, it’s fair to say the odds are not in favour of the love-matches made by the experts. But, every once in a while, a couple like Kerry Knight and Johnny Balbuziente comes along.

Are Johnny and Kerry still together a few years after appearing on the show? Good news for all the hopeless romantics, because the answer is yes! Not only are they now married – for real – but the couple have just announced they are expecting their first child together.

Baby B incoming, June 2024,” they shared on Instagram. “Thrilled to be adding a much wanted and already so-loved member to our family.

“Our journey took a bit longer than we’d hoped for but not as long as others. Thinking of everyone still on their path.”

Their post was met with joyous reactions from their reality TV friends, including MAFS expert Mel Schilling.

“Ooohhhh congratulations you two! I’m so delighted for you, you will be fabulous parents,” she wrote in their comments.

“Congratulations my beautiful people! Can’t wait for our lil families to Hang!! (we are already booked in NYE!)” added Jules Robinson.

After meeting at the altar in 2020, with their season of MAFS airing in 2021, Johnny and Kerry have managed to go the distance and even tick off some major milestones.

It was love at first sight for the contestants, with Kerry and Johnny clearly smitten upon meeting on their wedding day on Married At First Sight.

“As soon as I saw her bright smile… the breath just came out of me. She’s stunning, she’s incredible. I seriously can not wipe this smile off my face,” Johnny told the cameras after meeting his bride.

“He put me at ease as soon as I saw him,” Kerry said. “He looks really kind. I’m stoked.”

With their clear chemistry, the duo seemingly breezed through the experiment (unlike most of the other couples on their season).

“Your smile still makes my heart skip a beat,” Johnny declared in their final vows on the show. “Kerry, I have never met somebody like you. I am falling in love with you.”

“Johnny, you have my heart. I’m absolutely falling in love with you,” Kerry said back.

Shortly after the series ended in April, Johnny celebrated the “biggest risk” he had ever taken by sharing a six-month anniversary tribute to Kerry. In June, they revealed they had taken the plunge and moved in together.

“HOME SWEET HOME. It’s been a big weekend moving into our new place! Never too busy to have a bit of fun with it though,” Kerry shared with fans.

The couple added a new family member into the mix one month later, on Kerry’s birthday.

“Welcome to our family ENZO. Officially. The. BEST. Day. Ever,” she captioned a post welcoming their puppy.

After living together with Enzo for a few months, Johnny was ready to celebrate their next major milestone with a gushing tribute for his partner – who he affectionately calls “Kegz.”

Sharing a photo from their wedding day, Johnny wrote: “This is the moment that we had our first real conversation, exactly a year ago today.

“One hour before this very moment – I was standing at the altar, my hands were sweaty, my knees shaking, I felt like I was standing there for hours. I had to whisper into my microphone (to my producer) to ask if I could go to the toilet to do a cheeky spew (SO NERVOUS)!

“After a brief trip to the toilet we were back on and it was all systems go. I turned around and saw you for the first time and my life has not been the same since… I will never forget that moment. Walking down the aisle toward me, was the most beautiful woman… You smiled, reached for my hand and introduced yourself and we ALL fell in love with you.”

“It was while we were having our awkward wedding photo shoot, with a random horse, that we had our first brief moment to get to know each other… I quickly started to see how generous and warm and intelligent and funny and stupidly gorgeous you were… Finally my nerves (& guts) started to settle,” Johnny continued.

“You have surprised me every day since this day – with how much you care, how much you share, how much you love. Thank you for the last 12-months, thank you holding my hand during this crazy whirlwind.”

Now that’s a tribute! Of course, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing for the pair, who still found themselves involved in reality TV drama post-show despite being one of the more lowkey couples.

Johnny was accused of “dropping” former MAFS besties Bryce Ruthven and Jason Engler in an Instagram Q&A by the former.

In November 2021, Bryce said Johnny and Kerry had “completely wiped” them for “whatever reason.”

“We’ve heard ‘our friendship is not good for their image’ and that ‘we’re competition for public attention’ as the only remaining couples from MAFS, which we have zero interest in and just want to focus on our little family,” he said.

“We’re just disappointed that we’re poor judges of character in that friendship. Some are a genuine couple and our friends and some are all for the positive public image and limelight… Will leave it at that,” he continued.

Putting the drama behind them, however, Kerry and Johnny have focused on their other friendships with stars including season six’s Jules Robinson and Cam Merchant.

In an interview with WHOKerry revealed they had no regrets about going on the show as the good outweighs the bad.

“The best thing about meeting on the experiment in that weird, TV environment was that we could really build something solid together in a couple of months when it would normally take years,” she said.

“There’s a lot of pressure on the show and it can be a warper, weird environment but what we could build in that time was pretty special.”

Johnny added: “I think the most unique thing about doing reality TV is that you get to see yourself through the eyes of other people. Not many people get to experience that. For us it was truly unique.”

In January 2023 the couple walked down the aisle for a second time – saying ‘I Do’ officially.

The loved-up pair shared glimpses of their wedding on Instagram, with fellow MAFS couple Jules and Cam spotted at the celebration.
