As one of only two original cast members to re-join The Real Housewives of Sydney ahead of its new season, Nicole O’Neil is ready to jump back in.
“When they first asked us to come back, it was very important about who the cast was,” Nicole told WHO ahead of the season premiere. “But I also really, really, wanted to make sure Krissy was involved. I wouldn’t do it without her and vice versa.”
Despite drama overshadowing much of the first season, Nicole is adamant the experience was still fun – which is why she’s back for more.
“We had a great time, we had a lot of fun and there were nights and days that we laughed and had a great time,” she explains. “What was perceived on air was very different to how we felt while filming.”
Joining season one stars Nicole and Krissy are a completely new group of women; many of which Nicole herself knows well.
“There are genuine friendships this season,” she explains. “I think last season was lacking a lot of history and relationships.”
“I’ve known Krissy for 20 years and Victoria for 10 years. I’ve known Terry for at least that long…I’ve known Sally. So you know there’s a genuine history, I’ve gone in there knowing a lot more of these women and having genuine relationships with them.”
But despite the old friendships, don’t expect this new season to be that calm with Krissy herself describing the experience as a “pressure cooker.”
“Eventually their true colours come out,” Krissy Marsh adds, “but to me, that is exactly what this show is.”
“People say it’s not real, but it is 100% real,” Krissy continues. “You see someone’s real personality. They’ll say ‘Oh it’s been edited,’ but no honey you will show what you are.”
“If you stay true to who you are and what you believe in, it will come out,” Nicole admits.
Whilst Nicole herself isn’t one to “go looking for trouble,” don’t expect her to keep quiet this season.
“I will stand up for what I believe,” she tells us. “I will stand up for what I believe is right and what my values are.”
“If somebody betrays me or hurts one of my friends, whether I agree or disagree with what the issue is. If one of my friends is upset, I will stand up for them.”
