While the challenges may be brand new, the contestants are no strangers to the world of television, with the 2023 season following some of Australia’s most beloved personalities as they gear up for The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition.

Joined by host Beau Ryan, the celebrity duos will race across India, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Borneo for their chance to win $100,000 for their chosen charity.

While she may be known best as the sister of Australian pop singer turned swimmer Cody Simpson, Alli Simpson is no stranger to the reality TV game, with the 25-year-old having also starred on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and The Masked Singer.

Alongside her mum Angie, the duo are ready to race their way to victory for their chosen charity. The mother-daughter pair may have their eye on the prize however, they are both on the lookout for Alli’s next love, with the duo telling Ten that they will both be distracted by their attractive male competitors.

Rebecca Judd and Kate Twigley

With almost 800,000 Instagram followers, Rebecca Judd has made her name as one of Australia’s most prominent online personalities. Known widely for her activewear label JAGGAD, the mum-of-four has also dabbled in the world of television as a weekend weather presenter for Nine. 

Racing alongside her sister Kate Twigley, the duo are excited to live their dream of competing on The Amazing Race, with Kate telling Ten that she would envision her life on the show while travelling around the world in her early twenties.

Dane Simpson and Bow Simpson

Wagga Wagga-based comedian Dane Simpson has quickly gained recognition as one of Australia’s most talented comedians, with the rising star appearing at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala and Ten’s hit quiz show Have You Been Paying Attention?

Best known for his hit interactive lockdown programme Servo Bingo, Dane will be racing towards the $100,000 prize alongside his father, Bow Simpson. 

While he may be the eldest competitor in The Amazing Race Australia, 70-year-old Bow is determined to take home the win alongside his son.

Darren McMullen and Tristan Dougan

Beloved TV presenter and House Husbands star Darren McMullen has taken on his first role as a contestant, with the Glasgow-born actor set to race alongside his nephew, Tristan Dougan, for The Amazing Race win.

The duo’s shared love of sport has brought their competitive nature to the forefront of the competition, with Darren already crafting the team’s tactics. 

“If there’s any kind of eating weird foods, [Tristan’s] going to be doing that. If there’s anything that requires a lot of fitness and exertion, he’s going to be doing that, and I’ll just be here for the brains,” he told Ten.

Emma Watkins and Hayley Watkins

Beloved children’s television star Emma Watkins has traded her dancing shoes for her trainers as she races towards the $100,000 cash prize for her chosen charity, the Leonie Jackson Memorial Fund.

Known for her time as the Yellow Wiggle, Emma has partnered with her sister and Emma Memma dancer Hayley Watkins for the 2023 season of The Amazing Race Australia.

Former Australian Survivor star George Mladenov is ready to bring his cunning strategic mindset to the world of The Amazing Race Australia. 

Known across Australia as the archetypal reality show antagonist, the How to Win Friends and Manipulate People author will be racing alongside his younger sister, Pamela Mladenov.

With George’s negotiating skills and Pam’s natural charm, the duo are anticipated to be one of the most competitive teams for the celebrity edition of The Amazing Race Australia.

Since starring on the Netflix dating show Too Hot to Handle, Harry Jowsey has quickly become one of the most recognised personalities in reality TV.

With over four million Instagram followers, Harry is no stranger to the lifestyle of the rich and famous, with the 26-year-old revealing to Ten that he now only travels in first or business class (if he can’t charter his own plane first).

Racing alongside Harry is fellow reality star Teddy Briggs, who rose to fame on Love Island Australia.

Jackie Gillies and Ben Gillies

Psychic medium and reality star Jackie Gillies may be best known for her glamorous life as part of The Real Housewives of Melbourne, but she is not afraid to go off the beaten track for the next instalment of The Amazing Race Australia. 

Jackie will be racing alongside her husband Ben Gillies, who gained worldwide recognition as the drummer of Newcastle-based band Silverchair.

Although the couple have admitted they are torn between sabotaging other teams and calling out their fellow celebrities on foul play, Ben has already crafted their overall race strategy.

“Get plenty of sleep between legs, don’t rush, go with your gut, don’t worry if you’re first or last, and make friends with other teams,” he told Ten.

After being the only woman to reach the last day of training on SAS Australia, two-time 400m hurdles champion Jana Pittman is ready to add another reality show win to her list of achievements.

Joining Jana on The Amazing Race Australia is her eldest son, Cornelis Rawlinson. Speaking to Ten, Cornelis shared that he is most excited to spend some quality bonding time with his mum as they travel across the world.

Kath & Kim star Peter Rowsthorn is back for another round of reality tv challenges, with the comedian previously appearing as a contestant on the 2018 season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 

While Peter may be known best for his comedy, he won’t be the only jokester on the trip, with his daughter and aspiring comedian Frankie Rowsthorn joining Peter on the race towards the $100,000 cash prize for their chosen charity.

When is The Amazing Race Australia 2023 premiere date?

The latest celebrity instalment of The Amazing Race Australia is set to premiere on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. 

For fans wanting to catch up on the action, episodes of the 2023 season will air weekly at 7:30 p.m. on Ten and 10Play.
