Since he was born into the spotlight, Prince WIlliam has endlessly continued to fascinate the public with his latest news.
And now that the Prince of Wales has settled down with his wife, Princess Catherine, and their three gorgeous children, interest in him has only grown.
Despite his wealth and happy home life, things aren’t always perfect though, as he reveals below…
Prince William opens up about ‘hardest year’ of his life
Speaking on his tour of South Africa in Cape Town on Nov. 7, the Prince of Wales has opened up about the “brutal” toll the past year has had on him.
“It’s been dreadful,” Prince William admitted. “It’s probably been the hardest year in my life.”
In 2024, William supported his wife, Princess Catherine, and father King Charles, after they each received a cancer diagnosis.
“But I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done,” William said. “But from a personal family point of view, it’s been, yeah, it’s been brutal.”
The candid comments came as he neared the end of his four-day visit to host the 2024 Earthshot Prize awards ceremony.
It was a trip that was only made possible thanks to Kate successfully finishing her chemotherapy treatment, which she announced in early September.
The couple’s main priority during this time has been keeping things as normal as possible for their three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and 6-year-old Prince Louis.
“So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult,” William explained.
Though he was flying solo, the Princess of Wales was “doing well” William confirmed.
After being told he “looked relaxed”, William admitted it had been tough to keep up the brave face.
“I couldn’t be less relaxed this year, so it’s very interesting you’re all seeing that,” he said.
“But it’s more a case of just crack on and you’ve got to keep going. I enjoy my work and I enjoy pacing myself and keeping sure that I have got time for my family, too.”
Prince William attends 2024 Earthshot Awards in South Africa
William rubbed shoulders with celebrities including Robert Irwin, Hiedi Klum and Winnie Harlow during his trip.
The prince started the global environmental award program in 2020 as a way to help and encourage entrepreneurs to develop climate-friendly businesses thanks to a multi-million prize.
“I’m really pleased with the progress we’ve made so far,” William said.
“We’ve built something from scratch. It’s a global environmental prize. It takes time, it takes a lot of effort. It takes a lot of balancing to get it right.
“And last night I was really thrilled with the actual award ceremony.”
