Australian Olympic swimming star Kyle Chalmers has announced his engagement to Norwegian swimmer Ingeborg Løyning.

Keeping the announcement short but incredibly sweet, Kyle shared a selection of heartwarming photos alongside Ingeborg, writing, “∞ 19.06.24.”

Following the news, friends and fans of the sporting power couple took to the comments to share their congratulations.

“To an epic life together 🥂,” wrote Olympic coach Brett Hawke.

“Congrats ❤️❤️,” added Australian Olympic medalist Arianne Titmus.

The news of the couple’s engagement comes just over six months since the 23-year-old Norwegian Olympian confirmed her relationship with Kyle – sharing the first glimpses of the pair’s romance in her November 2023 round-up Instagram story.

Although Kyle and Ingeborg have not spoken frequently about their relationship, Ingeborg revealed in December 2023 that the couple had been in a relationship for around one year and have since moved in together in Kyle’s hometown of Adelaide.

Prior to his relationship with Ingeborg, Kyle’s love life became highly publicised following his split from fellow Australian Olympic teammate Emma McKeon.

Following Emma’s confirmation of her romance with team-mate and former pop singer Cody Simpson, speculation surrounding a rumoured ‘love triangle’ feud began to dominate headlines ahead of the trio’s campaign for the 2022 Commonwealth Games qualifiers.

Responding to the speculation, Kyle told pool-side reporters, “It’s false news that is actually just crap, it’s honestly just a load of s*** that is not true… I support [Cody] and the team, but again, people just want clickbait on the article.”

“You guys don’t actually realise the impact you have on athletes when we’re standing up to perform for not only ourselves but our country… After trials, I actually really sat down and assessed if I was going to continue on the sport because for me, I had given everything to this country… Instead of focusing on the positives, you guys want to focus on the negatives again,” he wrote to social media.
