Before there was The Avengers, The Fantastic Four were renowned as Marvel’s most powerful superhero squad.
Starring Jessica Alba and Chris Evans, the 2005 film has cultivated a dedicated cult following and now, almost 20 years since the film’s release, Marvel has announced that The Fantastic Four will soon be returning to our screens.
With a brand new cast joining the film as the beloved Mr Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing, fans are excited to see how the latest instalment in the story of The Fantastic Four unfolds.

Who is the cast of The Fantastic Four?
In the surprise announcement on February 14, Marvel Studios shocked fans when they revealed the new stars of The Fantastic Four’s next great adventure.
The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal will join The Fantastic Four as Mr Fantastic, with Mission Impossible’s Vanessa Kirby taking on the role of Invisible Woman Sue Storm.
Completing the quartet is Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn as Sue Storm’s brother Johnny, better known as the Human Torch, and The Bear’s Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing.
Two months later, Deadline revealed that Ozark star Julia Garner would be joining the franchise as the series’ antagonist.
To the delight of fans, sources speaking to the publication stated that Julia would be breathing a new life into the iconic character of the Silver Surfer through a re-imagined portrayal of his former lover, Shalla-Bal.
Exactly one year before the film’s release, actor Pedro Pascal seemingly confirmed that the superhero squad had officially commenced production on the film, sharing a photo together to Instagram alongside the caption, “Our first mission.”
What is the plot of the Fantastic Four reboot?
While we’ve yet to receive a full run-down on the upcoming reboot, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirmed on The Official Marvel Podcast that the film will be set in the 1960s.
“It is a period film, and there was another piece of art we released with Johnny Storm flying in the air making a ‘4’ symbol. There was a cityscape in that image. There were a lot of smart people who noticed that that cityscape didn’t look exactly like the New York that we know or the New York that existed in the 60s in our world. Those are smart observations, I’ll say,” he said.
Kevin also revealed that the upcoming reboot would take place in an alternate universe, allowing Marvel Studios to experiment more with the storyline of the characters that he describes as the “legendary pillars of the Marvel Universe.”
When is The Fantastic Four release date?
Fortunately for fans, Marvel Studios treated us to an extra special Valentine’s Day present by releasing the date of The Fantastic Four reboot.
If you’re eager to attend the first possible screening of the new film, The Fantastic Four reboot will premiere in cinemas on July 25, 2025.

As the film’s release date is not until next year, streaming information for the 2025 version of The Fantastic Four has yet to be released.
