It’s time to grab your bag and run to SLTs because Netflix’s Heartbreak High is back for season two.
After amassing over 42.6 million viewing hours within the first three weeks of its release, the re-imagined reboot of the 1990s original has quickly become a modern Australian classic, leaving many fans calling for a second instalment.
Fortunately, fans of the Hartley High crew don’t need to wait much longer, with season two of Heartbreak High set to drop in April 2024.
As we count down the days until the season premiere, we’re rounding up everything you need to know about Heartbreak High season two.
Who is the cast of Heartbreak High season two?
Heartbreak High season two will see the return of many of our season one favourites, with Ayesha Maddon and Asher Yasbineck reprising their roles as best friends Amerie and Harper.
Chloe Hayden and James Majoos will also be returning to Hartley High as Amerie’s partners-in-crime Quinni and Darren.
The end of season one truly set us up for an Amerie love triangle between Malakai and Spider and fortunately for fans, both Thomas Weatherall and Bryn Chapman Parish will be back to continue the story.
Hartley High is also set to welcome some new faces this school year, with Angus Sampson joining the cast as the new Head of P.E. and Sam Rechner joining as this year’s new boy, Rowan Callaghan.
Fortunately, many fan-favourite characters will be back to welcome them, with Gemma Chua-Tran returning as Sasha, Josh Heuston as Dustin, Will McDonald as Ca$h, Brodie Townsend as Ant, and Chika Ikogwe as Jojo.
Where was Heartbreak High filmed?
Similarly to the original 1990s series, Heartbreak High was filmed around Maroubra and Matraville in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.
Ahead of the release of season two, fans travelling on Sydney’s train lines also spotted the cast filming on the platform at Macdonaldtown Station in Sydney’s inner-west.

With unresolved friendship drama, new relationships, and broken hearts, fans are eager to see how the next term at Hartley High plays out for our new favourite characters.
Based on the teaser for season two, it appears that the arrival of a few new faces will definitely shake up the dynamics between Amerie and Malakai, with country boy Rowan seemingly taking Spider’s place in the Heartbreak High love triangle.
Speaking to WHO at the 2024 AACTA Awards, Chloe Hayden revealed that fans can expect “lots of drama” for Heartbreak High season two, sharing, “You see more depth of the characters and I think if you liked season one, you are absolutely going to froth season two.”
