Aside from the excitement of seeing Freddie Prinze Jr. back on screen, the sequel brings together a stellar new cast to revive the thrills for a new generation. Here’s who’s officially on board:

  • Sarah Pidgeon

  • Jonah Haur-King

Original star Jennifer Love Hewitt is still in talks to return as Julie. “Listen, I loved doing those movies. There is nothing more fun than doing a horror movie. It’s the best. Julie James was awesome,” she previously told Us Weekly. “I do think that there’s unfinished business there, and so I would be happy to do it.”

Fingers crossed that Hewitt signs on and reunites with Prinze Jr. for more chills! According to Prinze Jr., there’s “unfinished business” between Ray and Julie, leaving fans to wonder if the couple will find peace – or face more terror!

But for fans hoping to see Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Helen Shivers back in action, the answer is clear: dead means dead. In a recent interview with People, Gellar shared that while she’s thrilled about her husband Freddie Prinze Jr.’s return to the iconic horror franchise, her own character won’t be making any miraculous comebacks. “I am dead,” she joked, referring to Helen’s tragic fate in the 1997 classic.

However, Gellar isn’t entirely off the set. She’s lending her knowledge behind-the-scenes, providing some playful but important “unofficial” continuity advice to her friend and the reboot’s director, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Gellar explains, “I have an unofficial job title… I’m always the one telling her, ‘Well, that would happen, or that wouldn’t happen with those characters.’” So, while Helen won’t be resurrected, Gellar’s spirit is certainly present in the project, just in a very different way.
