Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie are set to star in a new reality show, appearing together on-screen for the first time in over 17 years.
The ’00s fashion icons and socialites who starred in The Simple Life for five seasons between 2003 and 2007, confirmed the news in May 2024, with Peacock confirming the pair are reuniting for a new reality show, Paris & Nicole: The Encore.
Although we don’t know too many details yet, the duo have been teasing their upcoming project online, sharing throwbacks to their infamous early naughties on-screen antics.
As we finally get our hands on the first trailer, we’re rounding up everything you need to know.
Is The Simple Life coming back?
Taking to Instagram to announce the new project earlier this year, Paris Hilton and Nicole kept the caption simple, writing “New Era, Same Besties. Coming soon to Peacock.”
The pair haven’t revealed too many details, but they have confirmed it will not follow the same format as The Simple Life.
“It’s been 20 years since Paris and I worked together. We wanted to celebrate that. I can’t tell you too much right now, but we’ve worked together to create something very special and exciting,” Nicole told Good Morning America on May 15.
The first trailer was not exactly what fans expected, it was actually even better. Did we expect the show to be about the duo producing an operatic performance based on their song ‘Sanasa’, no, but why would we expect anything less from these two icons?
“In order to write their magnum opus, they must first revisit their past,” says an announcer in the trailer, which also sees Paris and Nicole recreate moments from The Simple Life such as working at the fast-food chain, Sonic. They also return to Arkansas and visit old friends.
When will Paris and Nicole’s new show premiere?
Paris and Nicole: The Encore will premiere on December 12 via Peacock and Aussie fans will be able to tune in on the same day!
Paris & Nicole: The Encore, will be available to stream on Hayu from 13 December.
Are Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie still friends?
Although The Simple Life may have shot Paris and Nicole to stardom, it wasn’t without its drama.
The show aired for three seasons before the friends had a falling out – leading the series to be cancelled.
“It’s no big secret that Nicole and I are no longer friends,” Paris said in a statement to People at the time. “Nicole knows what she did, and that’s all I’m ever going to say about it.”
A few months later Nicole spoke out about the falling out, telling Today they had “grown apart” and their publicised feud “just turned into a much bigger thing than it is.”
Despite their estrangement, the school friends agreed to continue filming The Simple Life until its cancellation in 2007.
In 2010, the pair’s highly publicised feud continued to make headlines after Paris was noticeably missing from Nicole’s wedding to Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden, but by 2014 the friends made it clear the drama was behind them.
“An idea of a true friend is somebody that’s going to be there with you through and through,” Nicole told Andy Cohen. “The short answer to this is, I haven’t spoken to her in a while, but we are very good friends. I love her and I love her family. I have a lot of respect for her.”
In 2021 Nicole attended Paris’s wedding to Cater Reum, and their reunion was documented in Paris’ reality series Paris in Love. Paris was also among the A-list attendees at Nicole’s sister Sofia Richie’s wedding in April 2023.

While we may have to wait a bit longer for Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie’s new show, that doesn’t mean we have nothing to watch! It’s the perfect time to re-watch The Simple Life.
