Percy Jackson and the Olympians season two teases a major storm ahead

After many years of waiting, a television adaptation of Rick Riordan’s beloved Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series finally arrived in 2023.

The show, which wrapped up its first season last year, has officially been renewed for a second season, with a “new storm rising” according to the teaser.

If you’re not familiar with the story, fans were first introduced to the titular Percy Jackson, a 12-year-old boy who discovers he’s the son of the Greek God Poseidon, back in 2005 with the release of the first novel, The Lightning Thief.

After becoming a smash hit, the novel received its first film adaption in 2010, starring The Perks of Being a Wallflower’s Logan Lerman, followed by a second instalment, Sea of Monsters, in 2013.

Now, with a TV series to enjoy, fans can get more of Percy as he embraces his identity to help save the world. Read on for everything you need to know about Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

What is Percy Jackson and the Olympians about?

Based on the original book series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians follows Percy, the demi-god son of Posideon, as he navigates the treacherous world of gods and monsters. 

Joined by his two friends, Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood, at Camp Half-Blood, Percy embarks on quests to prevent catastrophic wars between the gods, with the trio journeying across the country to return Zeus’ lightning bolt. 

Who is cast in Percy Jackson and The Olympians?

Walker Scobell takes on the lead as Percy Jackson in the series, alongside Aryan Simhadri as Grover and Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth.

Other cast members include Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus, the god of wine who runs Camp Half-Blood, and Glynn Turman as Chiron, the centaur in charge of the camp.

Virginia Kull takes on the role of Percy’s mother, Sally Jackson, and Toby Stephens stars as Poseidon, Percy’s father and the god of the sea.

When will season two be released?

So far all we know about Percy Jackson and the Olympians season two is that it will arrive sometime in 2025.

The second season is based on The Sea of Monsters, the second instalment of Rick Riordan’s book series.
